    Indiana deer hunting

I have decide to give up my shotgun and use an AR platform. I have a lower with Vltor rifle stock and now the bad news.

Legal rifle for Indiana is bullet diameter of .358 and case lnth max of 1.8 so some options are 458 SOCOM, 450 Bushmaster, and 50 Beowulf.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Stay safe

WOW thats big for a legal limit here in NY its .22. I think the 450 bushmaster has more avalible hunting loads but then again with holes that size on deer I dont think its going to matter what bullet you use in any of those rounds.

Damn, I was wrong on this one.

Rifles with cartridges that fire a bullet
of .357-inch diameter or larger; have a
minimum case length of 1.16 inches; and
have a maximum case length of 1.625 inches
are legal to use only during the deer firearm
season. Some cartridges legal for deer
hunting include the .357 Magnum, .38-.40
    Winchester, .41 Magnum, .41 Special, .44
    Magnum, .44 Special, .44-.40 Winchester,
    .45 Colt, .454 Casull, .458 SOCOM, .475

Interesting, do you they not want you shooting very far? Did they used to be a shotgun/pistol only state?

    Indiana Deer

Texas 42 Years ago you could only use a shotgun and shoot on a buck with one antler at least 3" long, then they opened does. A few years ago pistol were added with several left off the list. The 10MM comes to mind. Then rifles were added with mostly pistol cartridges and just this year the case length was extended to 1.8 from 1.625 so I am looking at a 50 Beowulf. I have completed my lower and now looking at upper parts. I have a possible barrel from Liberty Barrel and Mega oversize upper.

I think the idea here in Indiana is that a far majority of the state is so flat, they are worried about distance. The past has been mainly shotgun & muzzleloader.

but the STUUUPPPPIIIIDDDDD part is, you can legally hunt with a pistol that has a barrel of 14in or less. But they only list calibers that are NOT legal, things like 45 ACP, 38 Special, 9mm, stuff like that.

Legal PISTOL calibers include 308, 7mm Mag, 300 BLKOUT, 6.8 SPC II...

I'm really debating on building a AR Pistol in 300 BLKOUT
