    that's some interesting work. tiny front sight, and looks like a metric-ton of chrome, or nickel plating. did it start off as a GI?

    Yea, started as a plain Jane mil-spec .45. And it's chrome... Not the most tactical color in the world, but it doesn't affect the performance. If I could do it over again, I'd have it ceracoated.

    My humble contribution to this thread. She was FILTHY when I got her but let the barrel and some parts soak over night in CLP and got her all cleaned up today. My only 1911 right now, but there's a CBOB en route.

    1943 Remington Rand all original parts and the type two slide, with original holster and even 1943 production ammunition from Evansville Ordnance.
