    Thanks,
The first thing I did before I ever shot it was to install and tune a 9mm extractor to replace the .45 one that Remington put in my 9mm pistol. I added a S/A magwell to relpace the plastic MSH that came on it. Reshaped the horrible stock thumb safety. Fitted a square bottom oversized firing pin block and reduced required grip safety travel. The stock rear sight had to go, I replaced it with a 10-8 that gave me the point of impact that I was looking for. The barrel bushing was way to shiny so I blasted it with aluminum oxide to give it a matt finish The front was sharp as a meat hook so I reshaped it. Polished the internals and made the flat trigger from the stock one. I just finished the grips using walnut that was milled over 50 years ago.
I have well over 2,000 rounds through it with 1 failure to extract. 99% of what I have shot through it have been my reloads, but it also runs well on aluminum and factory ball. It eats from every magazine I've tried without a problem.

STI Lawman in 9mm, bought it new December 5th as a 9mm training gun for USPSA Singlestack Nationals. I will shoot .45 in the match as I want Major scoring, but my Mark 7 is setup for 9mm and load .45 on a 550b, so 9mm was a simple decision. Just under 2 months old and about 10k through it and countless dry fire draws and reloads.

Nothing special here, just another colt series 80. Great shooting pistol, will probably never give it up.

Something I’ve been working on in the background the last few years, Patent Pending, and now available.

Questions: 1911, cocked and locked….. what is the safety blocking? What happens if the sear or sear pin have cracked or are otherwise damaged, and the sear spontaneously ceases to hold the hammer back?

Answers: the safety blocks the sear which is holding the hammer cocked, it does not lock or block the hammer itself. If the sear or sear pin has cracked due to a high round count, poor manufacture, or some kind of abuse / bad gunsmithing, and the sear can no longer hold the hammer cocked, the hammer will fall and simply bump the safety out of the way. Absent a functional passive firing pin safety, the gun will fire.

How about a safety and hammer with features that hook into each other and arrest the fall of the hammer? Here’s what the relationship looks like without the Fallarrest™ set:

    Added layer of safety, Fallarrest™-style:

What they look like. The paddle is XL so as to allow for trimming to preferences.

That accuracy is about what I would expect out of a decent 1911 at 15 yards. If they were shot at 25 yards that would be pretty impressive. Looks like a keeper though
