AK dirt test video at Blackwater, 12 Jan 08

Today Mark5pt56, DBLETAP, and I went down to Blackwater International in Moyock, NC.

Without a doubt, the finest shooting facility on the east coast.

Lots of rounds downrange through M4's, AK's, and an M1 Garand.

At the end of the day, I decided to run an inpromptu dirt test on my Arsenal Inc. SLR-105A1.

I removed the dust cover and threw two handfulls of dirt into the action, then inserted a magazine and threw another handfull in.

I then replaced the dustcover, charged the weapon, and ran a 30 round magazine of Russian 7N6 surplus 5.45mm through it.

    It passed with flying colors.

    Hi resolution pictures here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v6...12%20Jan%2008/

Both Mark5pt56 and DBLETAP are sworn law enforcement officers and can verify that this was real. Mark was the camera man.

Internals after the dirt test. Note that most of the dirt had been blown out or off to the side.

Mark and DBLETAP on the line:

I just emptied them and they are on the ground.-which doesn't hurt the Glock mags

And did you see the clip in the air? I think that's the coolest sound ever (The clip going tawaaang)

And look at the steel! It's still in "shock"

I hate excuses but.........I was loading my mags back up when someone offered me the opportunity to shoot the 74. I took the mag and rifle and tried it out. NICE WEAPON! No picture no proof, my srew up. And if asked if I was all loaded up and ready my answer is noooo!
The Garand was easy to shoot and keep on target and I loved the twaang also. Its funny that in the movies you hear it like its louder than the other shooting going on. You hear it when you are shooting the rifle but shooting next to Templar I never heard it and was busy with my own shooting.

That is an impressive test. Thanks for posting the video. How about one with an AR next time?

Mark said he might have an AR he'd be willing to do something like this with, but this was a spur of the moment thing, I was thinking about the guy who dunked his AR in a mud puddle here and then some sand and it locked up on him.

That sounds like it would have locked an AK up, too!
