    exercise ideas

    Evening everyone,

I've been slowly getting myself back in shape, running, push-ups, all that good stuff coupled with pretty intense hikes about once every other weekend.

However I have experienced a bit of a set-back, apparently Tuesday while I was on my Harley heading home, some woman in an unknown type of car, alcohol in her system, decided to send me to the hospital. The bike is totaled, 4 pieces I'm told, my right wrist and ankle are both pretty sore and swollen, 2 staples in the back of my head with a sore neck.

Anyways, seeing how nothing internal is broken, might loose a toenail, what are some good stretches and exercises for a broken, former door kicking FO to get back on my feet and be competitive again, in time?

Need a new bike too once finances allow, black on black is a must I think. For the life of me I can't remember if I kept the insurance up to date on the bike, I know at one time I paid annually, and the car is set up automatically deducted. The move to CA really played hell with my finances, and here I was just about to get everything up to date and squared away.

My memory goes from on the bike heading home (could have sworn I made it home too) to waking up in my bed the next afternoon sore as shit.

The only redeeming take away from the story is I killed her car, my broken body is tougher than some unknown car.

Sounds like more of a question for a doctor than random interweb advice.

Something low impact, walking, hiking. Working out in a pool can help alot with reducing impact on your body. Good luck.

I know guys, I just figure this forum is probably more packed with guys in better than average shape and have probably have experienced, collectively, some pretty intense injuries and more than likely have some good exercises to overcome them. I'm all ready getting restless and anxious to get back on my feet and put this all behind me.

Exercise is a good idea for the fitness and weight loss.
Cardio exercise is the best choice for getting the body in shape.
You can do running, jogging, swimming, push ups, pull ups, and cycling etc. to shape up your body.

Man, a toenail is no big deal but while your right ankle and wrist are healing, there is no place like the pool. Great way to get some low impact exercise in. Your local gym should be able to provide you with some guidance.

I don't know why every dude going through their midlife crisis has to get a bike but hopefully when I get there in a decade plus, I'll have more common sense. I haven't had the safest jobs in the past and neither is what I am going into (le) but damn, it just seems like stacking the odds against me coming home by getting a bike no matter how much I want to get one. Maybe that'll change when I hit 45 like a lot of folks I know (le and otherwise).

Not ragging on you brother, I may well be in your shoes someday. I wish you the best for your recovery.

Clearly a medical question. Perhaps find a rehab doc (physiatrist) in your area to work with 'till fully healed up. See:
