Thoughts on a Trijicon 3-9x40 Mil dot

I was considering getting a Trijicon 3-9x40 Mil Dot Amber in a LaRue LT104-1 QD mount with a LaRue RMR half ring Adapter LT742.
And putting a RMR at the 1 o'clock position on a BCM 20".

    What do you think?

I will be using it to shot up close plus out to 100-300 yards.

It's a nice, lightweight scope with pretty decent glass that should work for you out to 600 yards (5 mil). The small, capped turrets are better suited for hunting or holdovers rather than precision work. The latter can be done- it's just a bit cumbersome and care must be taken to refrain from unlocking the turret which will reset your zero. Personally, I prefer the green dot over the amber in low light and would recommend looking through both before you buy, if possible.

The LT104 mount will work nicely given the size of the optic and eye relief.

I was also looking at a 4x32 ACOG but I think the variable power settings would be better than the fixed.
I would like to see the Eotech 4x magnifier that they don't make anymore. I would consider a Eotech 557 with the 4x magnifier.

What is your shooting and optics experience?
What are you intending on shooting at 300?
    What is your budget?

I have been shooting since I was 5 years old as for optics I have used and currently own an Eotech XPS3-0, Trijicon ACOG TA50-2.
I have used others like the Trijicon 1-4x30 Accupoint, ACOG 4x32, Aimpoint ML2 and other hunting scopes.

I probably would never shoot anything out to 300 yards but who knows.
Budget is around $1300. Which I can get a Trijicon Accupoint 3-9x40 with LaRue Mount and RMR adaptor mount for around $930.
Or a ACOG ECOS with RMR and LaRue mount for around $1100 used but looks brand new.

I was looking at the Trijicon a while back, I ended up buying the Leupold VX-R Patrol 3-9x40 w/ TMR reticle.

It's slightly cheaper, has an illuminated reticle, nicer adjustments (in my opinion, I have another Accupoint I'm comparing it against ) & has a 30mm tube vs a 1" ( not a big deal, but I prefer it ).

I've only ran it out to 300 yards on a 16" gun, im very satisfied with the purchase.

    Just another option.

I concur, but per F2S it would be helpful to know what the OP was intending to shoot(e.g., small varmints, larger critters, steel, paper, etc.) to give a proper recommendation.

For example, the TMR reticle subtends to half-mil increments which is helpful in certain situations, but can be a little confusing/slower in others.

I would be using it for paper targets, small & large critters.

If you'll be hunting the majority of the time, I'd recommend the Trijicon- particularly if you'll be packing the rifle in a manner where exposed turrets will likely get bumped. If part-time hunting and part-time range, then the VX-R patrol. The regular VXR series and Vortex Viper PSTs are worth checking out as well. The former have capped turrets and the latter zero stops that work pretty well.
