Updates on M&P9 Safety Addition?

This article says, "S&W plans to eventually offer a refit kit enabling the safety to be added and/or removed from all M&P models."

I've only seen the option to remove from my searches....can you add safety to an M&P without one yet? Everything I've found points to no.

I believe you would have to modify the frame to add a safety.

Think you're right, but didn't know if I was missing some new development.

I was under the impression that all you needed to add the safety in was buy the appropriate parts, cut the frame where the safety drops into, and you're good to go?

If that fails, would S&W be willing to retrofit your M&P with a manual safety if you sent it in?
