I too have a pre-production UBR that I used for a few years over here.

It never failed me and is still in good shape. The only issue I had was with dust and dirt. First of all, pouring dirt or sand into anything is not a very good test. Mine sucked up the fine Iraqi dust and it did change the way it operated over time. The latch became slower and a few times it didn't even want to open, but it did with a bit of force. It took about three months of constant abuse to get this way. So, with a little bit of preventive maintenance, it should not be a problem.

Here are some pics of the level of crud when it became hard to operate.

What I like the most about it is how it shifts the weapon's center of gravity towards the rear. This may be important to some. For me, I want to be able to shoot one handed, since that is all you might have left (pun intended).

I stopped using it a few months ago because I simply didn't need it for my work. My M4 is not burdened down with additional items. I went back to using my ACS to make it easier to use inside of vehicles.

All my Magpul stocks are rock solid and well built. Because it never failed nor broke, it gets a big thumbs up from me.

ACS uses a mil spec tube. The UBR uses its own built in buffer like an A2 stock

I've had MOE and ACS stocks for awhile and recently picked up a UBR. I have to say I like it enough that it may become my new standard stock, even on my lightweights. It feels that much better to me.

I'd love to try one out. DSG has the OD version for $199 it is tempting! It is pricey but it is understandable now that I know it has it's own buffer tube too. I have an A2 stock on a gun and this would be a good way to switch! It looks solid and comfortable.

I run a couple of UBR's. One on an 18" SS barreled SPR and one on a 16" barreled Sun Devil upper lower combo rifle. I personally like my rifles with a bit of weight behind them so they both work well for me no matter the weapon. As IN stated I also like the weapon a bit tail heavy. One thing about the UBR's is that I really don't care for the stock butt pad. It is a bit slick and just not the best for getting a good grip on gear. I replaced them with the .70" replacement. More cushion = better traction. YMMV.

Too heavy for my tastes....but it is a solid setup for what it is.

I have a UBR and like it a lot for all the reasons listed above by previous posts.

I have no criticism's of the stock but have one idea that I think would make it better, here it is:

A replacement cheek piece (the part that is held on by 4 screws and can adjust forward and rearward) that slope's on the side like the ACS, IMOD and other similar stocks . I think that would put the already great stock in a league of it's own.

Anyone else wanna second that? Or am I flying solo?
