    readily available ammo

Being new to rifle purchasing and collecting, I've got a lot to learn. I did a search on this, but I didn't readily find what I was looking for.

If one is concerned about ammo availability and cost, but wants something more than a .22 LR, what caliber or calibers of rifles have the most readily available and (somewhat) reasonably priced ammunition?

    Thanks,

    AK ammo is relatively cheap.

    WASR2 shoots 5.45x39.
It's the last of the cheap import surplus ammo.
A can of 1080 rounds can be had for under $150.00.

The Romanian WASR2s come with really nice TAPCO triggers. No slap and they break really clean for an AK. They can be found for under $400.00
