    Question about the RAS II

Does the top rail affix to the barrel nut at any point? Or does it just attach at the rail with little hump over the receiver?

I am looking to get a FF do it yourself kind of HandGuard and was looking at the Knights or the Omega Rail. I don't really want to go the route of the CAS-V, although it's a great system.

    Thanks

The RAS 2 has a clamp that grabs the bbl nut at the 12 o'clock rail, the 6 o'clock rail with a screw on each and has the hump which bridges the rail and receiver together with a single screw, it free floats well. It's a good rail. If you don't want the hump get the DD Omega, also a great rail and is slimmer side to side than the RAS2.

Thanks for the answer. I have never had the chance to look at the RAS II. I am putting a rail on a N4 for a Patrol Carbine and was just trying to narrow the down the Omega and the Knights.

I like the sling swivel hole that comes in the Omega. One less thing to buy.

The Vltor CASV-EL works well also with a few more mounting options.
