FWIW, from what I understand, the last four digits of your social plus a few things about you like place of birth and age make it feasable to figure your whole social. Perhaps I'm over-careful, but I'd probably avoid posting it.

    YMMV.

PMAGs are authorized. Read up skip.

The CO or XO of whoever this guy is with are idiots. Sensitive item inventories are done monthly, regardless of location. If done correctly, someone should have spotted that ridiculousness.

Those nasty girls always up to no good ;-)

Also, in addition to what an above poster mentioned. I wouldn't want to risk my wife not receiving my SGLI if I took once to the face, all because I wanted to look cool with my snazzy upper. You never know.

If you bring your own upper and have it put on your unit's property book before you deploy, the MP's will never know it wasn't issued when they check your ISU-90's.

    Or so I heard...

"What happens when it breaks? Who brought the spare parts?"

if his untested rifle takes a shit on him and he happens to be in a situation where he needs it, he not only puts himself at risk, he also puts the mission and the lives of the rest of his platoon at risk
I don't think this would be an issue, shit breaks, even issued shit. I've never seen anyone get in trouble for using non-issues equipment.

Also, upper are NOT sensitive items, only the lower, so no issue there, either.

And SGLI will get paid regardless. SGLI not getting paid because you were not wearing a helmet, PT belt, etc is a bullshit urban legand.

The real issue is the fact that the guy thinks he is "too cool" to follow a simple directive. What other orders/directives does this guy think are stupid and he doesn't need to follow? I can think of more than one theater directive that everyone thinks is ****ing retarded.

The guy is a tool and needs to be taken out back by his PSG and "mentored"

I might be wrong, but from what I remember on my geneva convention training, non-military can't wear military uniforms.

That's sure to be fun hauling around in a backpack, box, underfoot in a vehicle or whatever everywhere unless there is absolutely without question trust the non-vetted upper to not crap out as I doubt the guy next to him is going to hand over his rifle for that guy to use if his shits the bed in a the middle of a firefight.

Let's say the upper was from a Colt monolithic 6940. What difference would it make?
Commanders are told that they cannot do that, if commander doesn't enforce the higher level rules how can he expect his rules to be followed.
