The bottom picture really brings back some fond memories for me. That was so much fun! Lots of work, but fun.
    Thanks for posting it.

Holly Molly! brother that is one of the best k9 pics I have ever seen. It's good to see that you have somebody that will stand by you NO MATTER WHAT and will be there when you need him. I'm Jealous of you now

I work for a 45 man department and we allow officer owned rifles. There really isn't a policy at all and none written. No limits on brand or modifications. No inspections either. My rifle has never been looked at by the armorer. We only have a handful of surplus military guns that are issued and without personal rifles most of us wouldn't have one.

We should have some type of written policy but for now if you buy an AR you can carry it.

From a liability stand point the worst part is we have no rifle training. Nothing. No way to check if you can comparably operate it. Just a very very simple 30 round course of fire.

Thanks Mike. Never have to second guess my partner or my Colt.

    stuck in stone age

our very small sheriff's office(sheriff and 4 deputies) allows personally owned rifles but I am the only one who carries one. The rest of them are stuck in the stone age. The sheriff and 2 of the other deputies still are packing SW Revolvers. They also have double barrel shotguns. The other deputy at least packs a Glock 22 and Rem 870 but no rifle. They looked at me like I was from another planet when I pulled out my new DD M4V5 the other day with Aimpoint, BUIS, light, laser, etc. I also carry a Rem. 870 along with the DD. The sheriff has no clue as to what a quality AR consists of so he just takes my word for it. He had never heard of DD, LMT, Noveske or BCM.

Gangsters have been using automatic weapons for almost 100 years now. Why the heck are deputies still doing this?
Why do the loudest do the least?

I'm not an emoticon-only response kind of poster, but to the above...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. There are all kinds of cops and agencies out there.
