28: "Instead of being paranoid, I'd rather just enjoy life"

This is the only one I see some merit in. This is why I choose to balance preps with fun in my life. Because why strive to survive if you've been miserable and depriving yourself of enjoyment for years and years? Kinda takes the point of it away.

    Everything in moderation, essentially.

We're not talking about splurging $2k on a 57" LEDTV. We're talking not feeling bad about splurging $120 on a couple new 360 games when that money could bought some mountain house or some ammo. Every now and then you have to unwind and enjoy what you enjoy.

Yep, every time I bring up the subject I hear this one.
Usually followed by "well, I suppose we could put away a few cans here and there but I don't want to go overboard"...

"But it's too expensive"- so don't go on vacation this year!

That being said- I heartily agree with SMETNA- no reason to run around 24/7 as if the sky's falling. You've got to let go at some point.

Or ever! I'll travel once I retire and I'm out of debt and well stocked up on things. If I live that long, that is.

I think we can all find some humor and frustration with the list above, I know I do.

    ― Oscar Wilde
If you are into outdoor adventure sports and the shooting sports then your half way there. I try to incorporate my hobbies into my preps. They can go hand in hand provided you keep it all in perspective. For me it is a lifestyle.

    Bingo.

So many people are busy "prepping" to survive they are forgetting to live.

I think of "preppers" as my personal grocery store, post whatever it is we're supposed to be prepping for.
