    Crap. Apologies for my post.

It looks like my Del Ton rumor comment was meant towards you. It wasn't. I just accidently lumped it together with a question I was asking you.

I have a feeling i am going to be sitting and waiting for months at a time BUT the form 4473 is only good for 30 days so....yeah.

I simply dont know on this one man.

Quite frankly, the deal was too good to pass up otherwise i would have told them to go fudge their own faces. It is a SCAM to order the rifle when they have a complete inventory available (the guy behind the counter told me they had a bunch in stock after i asked). I have never in my life ever been particularly interested in Black Friday sales but as i mentioned earlier, this is a hell of a rifle for that price.

They simply wanted more rifles on hand to sell on black Friday.

This is like wanting to buy a football at sports authority that is right on the shelf but they tell you that they have to order it for you. Absolute BS but ultimately, the consumer, ie ME, DID Have the option of leaving without spending my clams.

I chose to take my chances, hopefully i wont end up regretting it.

As an aside, the manager of the store told me that it should be in in under three weeks as that is the usual transit time from their Atlanta warehouse. I smelled another heaping pile of bullshit with this statement but we will see.

    EDIT:

    http://dickssportinggoods.shoplocal....d%3dDSG-121118

The wording here is pretty clear. Take a look.

    "IN-STORE ONLY
    WHILE SUPPLIES LAST
MSR model selection varies by store based on state and local ordinances.
FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION ARE LIMITED TO STOCK ON HAND. QUANTITIES VARY BY STORE. "

I will be calling corporate tomorrow to see what the hell the deal is.
Lets see if this link will work:

    http://dickssportinggoods.shoplocal....ode=DSG-121118

If it doesnt, go to the dicks sporting goods web site, and at the top of the page is a link to their "weekly circular" in orange.

Go to the one for "Prices effective Sunday, Nov. 18th - Wednesday, Nov. 21st"

On the page, it shows at the top:

    "GET BLACK FRIDAY DOORBUSTERS NOW
See a store associate about special ordering these gifts."

So the ad itself says they will let you order these gifts to lock in the pricing, not that they will give it to you before the black friday sale. It sucks compared to getting to take it home, and while I too wish you could take it, I cannot really blame them for trying to keep their black friday items in stock for black friday.

I'd be pissed if I stood in line to get one, and found a guy who said he had walked in and bought it the day before for the same price.

Obviously, YMMV since some people are getting them home, and I will certainly try the same tomorrow when I swing by, but if they say I have to order, Ill do just that.

I was looking for a new middy, and was wanting this rail/battle sight combo, so I am basically getting the whole rifle for the cost of the upper I was going to build. Cant complain there...

Didn't realize this is a middy. Even more interested. Would be all over it if it was in FDE.

    El_chupo,

I saw that portion of the circular too BUT their online advertising, ie the advertising that i linked to in my post is NOT worded in such a manner.

It is confusing and misleading and that is why i am griping. Not to mention, corporate policy should be concrete, not discretionary. SOME people being allowed to take home the rifles is just odd.

I haven't laid hands on it yet, as DSG is about 35 miles out of my way, but hopefully tonight... But all the info I can find online (defensivecarry.com, several local sites, and at least one post on ar15.com) list it as mid length.

I have my lmt in FDE, and no black "EBR's", so this works for me. But, if it were black with FDE parts, I'd be in anyways. I think the color matched receiver is throwing me off, personally...

Yeah, a solid stance on policy would be nice. I ended up calling them to clarify as well. The person I talked to seemed well versed (or recently informed) that they were making this deal available due to their corporate 30 day price guarantee, but in no uncertain terms, I was told no rifle to take home. He didn't mention it was due to stock for BF, but we all know that's the case.

If you do get them to jump ship and give you the rifle, let me know!

Just curious why you'd have to fill out the 4473 before the rifle go there? I've never had to do that on any firearm I've ordered.

Man, you guys got me going again. Since WallyWorld upped the price on 6920s, I decided to check Dick's first thing this morning, to see if they had any more Troys available. The guy at the counter was just bringing out the display Troy. When I asked if they had any more, he said the display was the last in stock, or I could order one. I surmised that the display unit was probably not handled that much, and he confirmed it. He said everyone wants to look at the Bushies or S&Ws, and hardly anyone had played with the Troy.

So I went for it. Turns out the display unit had a very low serial number (0003XX.) Since I was looking for a possible gift for my kid in the AF, I think he will probably get the first Troy I bought which had a much higher serial (0017XX.) Like SpookyPistolero, I also applied for a credit card to get another 10% off. Ended up out the door for less than $780.

This rifle is tight and clean cut. very nice quality. Love it so far. Cant wait to try it out in the range.
I live in NY so things I hate:

-Pinned stock, and it is pinned at the longest length. not comfortable. wish they pinned at at 2nd position at least LOL.
    -10 rd magazine
-Rear sight is not spring loaded? WTF
-No sling attachment included! i have to shell out another $39 if I want to mount sling to Alpha rail, or a QD sling attachment ($19) if I want to attach to the stock
    -No case included

I paid $1000 w/tax for the rifle and 100 rds of remington 223 ammo.

Anyone live is the westchester area? where do yuo go to shoot an AR?

The store employees had no answer for me.

I wasnt able to call corporate today since im dealing with a case of laryngitis and i have zero voice. I will do my best to call tomorrow to do some whining.
