You can also change your mind & go with another color later if it so moves you!

Im not a big fan of duracoat, its honestly not much better than krylon. My cousin is a gun smith and he was using duracoat on his projects before he switch to cerakote and the duracoat would not hold up well at all in comparison.
    I paint spaceship parts.

Definitely. Or overspray with a color to gradually change the shade (lighter to darker or vice versa)

It's easy after the first time you do it. It's a functional additive...and if you treat your rifle like a tool then it's no biggie

+1...Duracoat is not as durable as 1 might think.

Plus 1 ...i have tried Gunkote (tough as nails but the flat black isn't) and alumahyde (not nearly as tough but better then paint and looks great). Can you detail strip the gun? If you can, I'd do it myself. In my experience, just because you pay somebody else to do it, it is no guaranty they will do a better job then you (and might do it worse!). I gunkoted 2 AK's using nothing more then a heat gun, my oven (the guns would only fit diagonally, but they fit) an oven thermometer (not optional) and my shower stall for a spray booth (i covered the walls with plastic sheet). I am very satisfied with how the guns came out.

I understand the feeling, when I cerakoted my rifle and glock I remember standing there with the hvlp gun in my hand saying to myself "do I really want to do this?" But at the end of the day im glad I did it.
