Winchester 5.56mm 62gr OTM Bullet (Handloading Component) (FBI Contract)

Midway has them on sale for $70/500. See - http://www.midwayusa.com/product/326...Buy_62220123_1

At 14 cents apiece they look like they could be a great buy (especially since I currently handload Nosler 60gr Partition).

    Any info, particularly barrier-blind performance?

    Thanks!

The current Win FBI contract barrier blind bullet is a 64 gr bonded JSP...the bullets in question are not those.

Midway description says it is basically mk318 bullet. Maybe fbi is using for training round. At 62 grains only difference between this and the duty round is 2 grains an otm and non bonded. Should closely match trajectory at a significant cost difference.

I would stick with the partition they are expensive, but think about what it takes to produce a partition of that size. I would love to see them produce a partition that is around 70-75 with a bonded front section. The couple i have recovered in game the front section was pretty much gone with the 224 bullets, but the 308 bullets a lot of the front section remains with a nice mushroom. If they could make them a little heavier and make them to retain 85-95% of their weight i think they might rival the tbbc.

Doc Roberts - thanks the info.

An earlier description from Midway indicated with was a "training" bullet, which seems unusual.

If the picture is correct that's not the MK318 bullet.....though the written description does sound like it. I have some MK318 which shoots good out my 16" Middy.

I really can spell, however Tapatalk keeps screwing everything up!

Pic (from web site) looks like one of Winchester's varmint bullets.

Thanks for the pic wahoo95 there is a big difference. I wonder if internal construction is similar. Midway always gets there descriptions wrong. From the looks that bullet midway has listed is of normal construction that mk 318 bullet looks a lot longer.

If anybody has any of these could you take a Dremel and section one. Nothing professional would just like to see internal construction.

Thanks again for the pic wahoo95

I have a box of Q3314 in front of me. I just got back from the range and have shot it for quals and it hasn't ever given me a problem and seems like high quality ammo to me. I haven't been able to get any information from my agency on it other than it is the "Practice 5.56".

I haven't ever split a bullet length wise before so I guess since I don't have a bench vice, Vice Grips and Dremel? I have a bullet puller and will also weigh the powder charges as well on a sample of 5. Any other requests?

I will get on it tomorrow morning and post photos and try and answer any questions.

I zero'd my new Aimpoint T1 at 54 yds on a NRA 25yd Bull and I will say it appears accurate (though it is only a 3 shot group).

    Todd
