Got my sample in. I must first say that this mag is a prototype and not the final product. With that said, it is very close.
Fit/finish on the mag is first rate. The rubber baseplate is well made. How it interfaces into the mag body is also well designed IMHO.
I loaded the mag up and did some drop tests and the mag retained the rounds. It also dropped free from every AR I had in the shop (good sign).
I tried to put a Magpul GEN III follower into it, but it would not fit (just barely).
Lancer is marketing this mag as duty ready. This means that it will be the only hard use clear/smoke mag on the market. Because of this, I think we will be seeing a lot more of them in the near future.

Huh. A couple months ago I ran across a picture of a Canadian soldier on the range with a Diemaco and some sort of non Eagle or Magpul transparent magazine.
Those would be the ones.![]()
I'm not giving up faith in Magpul, but it's always nice to have more clear mags available.
The luxury of freedom was not free.
Looks pretty good, but to me... A see thru mag is a fashion NO NO!!![]()

HK and SIG have been issuing "clear" mags for over a decade. I refuse to believe the Germans and Swiss have some special voodoo that allows them to make durable "clear" mags, and Americans can not.
I'm actually shocked to some degree that is hasnt been done with success already.
These new mags look well done from the photos. They look more complex than Pmags, so I assume they will be more expensive

What Happened to the American dream? It came true. You're looking at it.
I agree with Vari. And, Steyr had see thru mags all the way back in the 70s. I am not sure why a nice non-glossy see-thru mag isn't a good thing? Why wouldn't you want to be able to see where the mag is at just by looking at it?![]()
If you aren't armed when you take a dump in your own home then your opinion on what is a practical daily carry weapon isn't interesting to me.

I own more than 3-dozen of the USGI mags, most of which are from Brownells. I also own over a half-dozen Pmags and absolutely love them. I even have single windowed version, but it only tells me if I have less than 20-rounds left in the magazine. Since I normally load 28-rounds in these mags, I have found that this version of the Pmag is of little utility as far as I am concerned.
A true clear magazine has as much utility as the witness holes in the Glock magazines. Would I ever make use of those witness holes in a gunfight? I certainly hope not!! But they are very useful at the range and when training as would a see-thru Ar mag. I would be perfectly happy if a manufacturer would just include witness holes that mark 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25-rounds. Or maybe if someone would make one that has a clear back. This would let me know how much more I can shoot with that magazine. Barring that, I think a clear magazine would do nicely.
Just because this product is of little use to you, it doesn't mean that it won't find a niche somewhere with someone. Heck, there are a lot of items that were made for non-military applications that eventually became life-savers in the Combat zone. If the people of Dupont had listened to the likes of you, our guys would still be running around wearing flak vests (I hated those things)!! JM2CW.
