What is the fascination with Colt AR'S?

Can anyone here explain why Colt AR'S are supposedly so superior to other AR brands? Correct me if Iam wrong...Colt doesn't even manufacture thier own lower, upper, bolt assm, or trigger assm. Can anyone here please elaborate?

    Go with an Olympic Arms!

It would be perfect for a guy like you.

When discussing a combat type weapon that closely follows the TDP, it is hard to find a company that beats Colt.

Not only does Colt use superior materails (in most cases), but they also assemble them properly. This seems like an easy thing to do, but VERY few companies seem to do this correctly.

Colt makes about 7 items in house currently. That is most likely equal to or more than than just about EVERY other AR manufacturing company out there.

They suck, buy a DPMS and sell me yours. I'll give you $100, right now, for a turd-like Colt's.

Colt owns and has built the M4 for the Military and DoD under their own proprietary TDP that they engineered. It has went through somewhere around 200+ ECPs and counting.

Just because parts are sub-contracted does not mean they can not be the best. There are many companies’s out there that try and market their products as being the same or better than said company contracted by, in MOST cases this is not a true statement.

Many large company's farm small parts work to a "specialty" shop that 1- has production and machine time and 2- who can keep there quality up (or get fired).

I think this has subject about Colt vs everyone else has been bashed to death and I’m really to lazy to search for a thread that refer's to a mythical "Tier" chart.

When it comes to building or buying a rifle or carbine for yourself ask the door kickers and the IPs here not the sales people.

    There's my 2 cents.

Your post kind of came of in a way that you believe that Colt to be lacking and or not as good as other brands. I am sure that you didn't mean for it to sound that way, but that is how it was read by many (including me).

Well you already answered your own question with your vast knowledge of what colt makes in house.

You should take a look at Rob_s's chart on the diffs between Colt and other brands.
