Unknown and unknown, I was at my FFL filing out the Form 4 and snapped a couple digital pics. I didn't notice the carbon on the baffle until I got home and actually looked closely at the pics. I can only assume it may have been test fired at the factory, but if it was, the ring at the baffle does not appear to be sized to the SFMB brake. If it was not fired then either the dealer or my FFL has been doing a bit more than finger f**king the SOCOM.

So, do I worry that some dope may have put the SOCOM on an older Surefire mount and fired it???? Looks like I have some digging to do. If anyone knows if Surefire tests each suppressor, please chime in.

Yes, Surefire tests each suppressor with live-fire at the factory to insure that POI shift on their test-rig is <1MOA.

Thanks much! I'll take my worry hat off and throw it back in the closet.

Mine just arrived at my dealer, and I noticed the carbon also. I assumed it was just from the test firing at the factory. I trust my dealer when he said hadn't tried it out. He's already got one himself, so no reason he would.

That is correct. We do test fire every suppressor as the last QC measure of the build.

    Hey, does anyone have a Form3 for a SOCOM762 ????

I need the EXACT data for field:
    3f - Overal Length

    And I'd like to confirm:
3a: Surefire LLC Fountain Valley, CA 92708
    3b: SILENCER
    3c: 7.62
    3d: SOCOM762

Thanks, I have to get my Forms signed by my dealer tomorrow. The can is going to show up while the person that can sign is away.

    Whoa.

What a coincidence. I was just at my dealer today, checking the status for my 762 RC can. Not sure why it's taking months for Surefire to ship a approved suppressor. I've been waiting 2 months for since the approved Form 3. The dealer was comfortable starting the Form 4, but I wanted to play on the safe side, and wait till the can arrives to start the Form 4 paperwork. Anyhow, while I was there today, I got a copy of the Form 3. Perfecting timing, so here you go Noodles, hope that helps ya out.

Thanks for the picture. It was approved on Dec 3rd and it only now arrived at the dealer?

Thanks for the picture!! Very helpful... Oddly enough, Surefire did NOT file their Socom556 the same way.... Whatever, not my problem. Fwiw, I confirmed your F3 matches mine for the SOCOM762. I'll see if I can scan my Socom556 F3

Next.... I did get to shoot my Socom556 yesterday at my dealer's indoor 100y range. It's..... NICE.

Put it on my 12.5" DD barreled with the A5H2 buffered gun. Only after 10 fast shots did I detect a slight sting in my eyes, and I'm pretty sensitive to it. After 20 shots I had to either move a little or break the gun away. CERTAINLY acceptable for real world use without a gas block as of right now. I think it might be a tiny bit better with the A5H3 or H4, but so far, I would speculate to say the Socom does have less back pressure.

I took a video of the lights off to see the flash. There was only the slightest bit of flash from the end of the barrel with the lights off. About a .25" instant flame cone about 3-4" long. NOTHING at all like that video someone posted. And this was in almost complete darkness. I did not test another can to compare, we were out of time, but I really can't imagine another can being ridiculously better except maybe the Silencerco or new KAC with the stupid prongs in-front of the can, even then, not sure. With the can off and testing the flash hider, there was an ever so tiny amount of three slim 1-2" instant flames, works VERY well.

I'm happy with it so far. I'd like to do some full auto cyclic rate testing on a couple of uppers and suppressors. I'd like to see the % change from unsuppressed to socom to aac. As well as % change with the different buffer weights. That'll have to be next month at soonest.

I noticed today that there is zero carbon behind the seal on the flash hider. None. Fired about 50 rounds in three quick runs, so, not a lot of ammo, just enough to pass the gun around a couple times and shoot a quick video, but enough to see their claims about a no-carbon zone on the mount are definitely correct.

So far, I'm thrilled with the Surefire. That mount is NO JOKE, esp once someone showed me a good way to take on and off. I'm very glad I did not jump into an AAC 51T mount at this point in time, and very glad I did not attempt to wait for AAC's 90T cans. I'd still like to see a Silencerco Saker, but I'd prefer my rifle cans to be sealed and military tested. I look forward to the Socom762 coming in next month or so.

Mount is a tiny bit heavier in my hand than I was expecting. I'll get a weight when I zip that thing off later.

I'll see about posting the videos up on youtube.
