In the thread on TOS Garin says the new cans will attach to the old mounts, but they dont have a locking pin, so they can spin.
He says they will work, the suppressor will stay in line with the bore, but surefire is basically going to say they are NOT compatible.

He also said they are building Major Malfunctions order right now, as well as other distributors.
So they are being built for the civilian market right now.

FWIW - Garin basically said the same to me in an IM from TOS on the 26th. "I have started taking orders from my distributors. Dealers can now take orders from them like M3 right now. I will start taking orders directly from dealers in a few weeks after I get their price sheets out to them. We started with the disributors first do to their large orders. We will have a planned media blitz and dealer notification soon. Just getting everything lined up."

The SOCOM556-RC is the same length 6.2" and .5 oz heavier (total weight 16.5) than the 212. The SOCOM556-RC has a different front plate and a new incorporated blast shield that added the little bit of weight.
