    Got my 3P flashhider

Heard some odd news today at my local gun store. The gunsmith there was telling me that he had demoed the SOCOM mini on his MK18 and said it was the loudest can he has ever heard, and that Surefire suppressors were usually the loudest of cans he has ever demoed. Wondering what others on here with SF suppressors think of that and how they compare sound wise towards other companies?

I'll tell you exactly what's going on.

    A. Personal bias, some people think the less they spend on something the better. Even, oddly enough, lifetime purchases. And extend that bias along to anyone that spends more than they feel comfortable with spending themselves. When you buy a centerfire suppressor for an auto platform, you aren't buying it for the performance relative to another product, you're buying Can A over Can B for the mount, the weight, the durability, then the sound.

    B. He's full of shit - All AR cans are loud. I have heard Ranger2s, next to M4-2000s, next to Gemtechs, next to Form1, next to small mfg. They all sound the exact same to me. I don't trust anyone's "calibrated ear", of course it's loud, it's a 556 can on a 10.5" AR! This is why anyone's who owns a rifle can, will almost always recommend a 22 can to noobs.

I'll say this, I won't have any serious amount of time on my Socoms until middle of July (two weeks). I've heard my 556-RC indoors and it was loud, but exactly the same as an M4-2000 or any other 556 can. I'll have some time on my 556-RC and 762-RC outdoors coming up. I'm 99% certain I'll be able to report it's identical to every other 556 can on an AR, loud, but not unsuppressed loud!

My dealer informed me that Surefire is doing a new batch of these in the next 2 weeks. I've had one ordered since March.... If all is true then maybe in 4 months it will finally arrive at me dealer and another 8+ months for my stamp to arrive. Come on 2014!
That's ****ing excellent news. I've been waiting on mine ordered from M3 since February if I recall correctly.
Did your dealer actually get this info from Surefire or just "somewhere"?

I ordered one from Knesek guns after seeing their notification on Facebook of all places. It shipped quite quickly. For anyone looking for one you may consider checking there. I had heard negative reviews concerning Knesek but I found them to be very helpful and prompt.

No we are running a lot of SOCOM762-Mini's right now. One thing the industry needs is for the NFA to bring back the temp agents we had a few months ago. Form 3's are getting long wait times again. Good thing is I have been able to get a few things off my plate and will be around here more to help anyone out that needs info on what is coming out of Surefire or what ever else you guys need. Will also start posting some R&D stuff soon on my instagram page.

My dealer said the same thing about the 556-212. I personally think they are all loud and it's a tone thing. Surefire has a bit more high-pitch to it than AAC, and so many people say they are louder because high pitched noises are more irritating than low pitched, even of the same dB.

I have never heard a suppressor or fired one, so I am hoping that to me it is not as loud as I think it is. But to me, sound was a last priority. Durability, mounting, POI shift were my top 3 priorities in looking for one.

P.S. I am sending off my Form 4s tomorrow for my SOCOM RC
