McMaster carries Clover. I don't have any in 320 or 400, I'm going to get a can and see if I can civilize my 17S without spending $400 on a Giesele trigger.

+1 Just shoot it for a while (1k rds) and then see what you think.

But doesn't that work out to a $350-$500 trigger job?

I like to put a 1/4 x 28 x1/4 set screw above the grip screw, under trigger. It takes all slack/travel out of trigger, so you get nice crisp break. After polishing with rubbing compound. or could pay $50 for same thing. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=3...IGGER-ADJUSTER

If this is a duty weapon I only see two good options. Shoot the shit out of it and grease the parts, or pony up for a Geissele SSA and then shoot the shit out of it.

My first AR had a terrible trigger when new. After about 1k rounds it was pretty good, then after about 11k I broke down and put in a Geissele.

I would definately say that it took me about 10k(about 7 of which was in classes) before I was at the point skill wise where the upgraded trigger would even benifit me more than $200 worth of ammo.

Duh, just send it to Bill Springfield and let him work his magic. That was the best $35 I've spent on my AR.

Or pay for a ALG trigger.

    Done.

I highly recommend against this practice for anything but a range toy.
One can very easily wind up with a malfunctioning FCG with stuff stuck under the trigger assembly tail.

Just as a disclaimer, there are a boatload of stories on the net of triggers supposedly ruined by Bill Springfield. It seems his work is hit or miss. I haven't had any trigger work done by him (I use stock triggers in my ARs), but I have read enough anecdotes about his work that I felt it should be mentioned.

???? How can stuff get under the tail, the whole point of proccess is to remove slack (if not mistaken set screw butts up under trigger tail). I thought if nothing else would make it harder for debris to get under. Just wanna make sure (really like the crisp break) before I start snatchin apart my lower, reliability is more important.
