Sell Glock for M&P or What for Fix?

I have a gen 4 Glock 19. I already have several personal security systems holsters and mag carriers for it. I also have 6-7 mags. The internal debate I've been having is should i sell my glock to get what seems to be a more relieable M&P? Or should i just stick it out and wait on the apex extractor? I am just hating the thought of if I ever need to use my Glock in a hostile situation, home break in for example, will the brass to the face cost me my life? I Guess the final option might be that the Glock problem will be rectified in the near future and I should just wait it out since I have so much money invested in the system, night sights, OEM Glock 3.5 pound "-" Connector installed, holsters, mags, and mag carriers. What do you guys think?

Why sell it for an M&P? Why not a gen 3?

    That rhymes by the way

    Try the 30274 ejector.

As previous poster said holding it sideways to pop a cap in some trick ass buster is also an option.

Also I am reasonably certain if you're taking a man's life with your weapon you won't know brass is popping against your forehead or will have any recollection of it. That being said I'd want to fix it too.

I'd wait a little longer for Apex's extractor personally, I just came from the M&P route and it got expensive to get it where I wanted it compared to my Glocks.

Bingo! I did the same thing..I still have my .45mid, But then again, accuracy at 25yds was never a issue for it, and it actually benefited from the installation of a Apex FSS..However, my FS9, was the exact opposite, poor accuracy past 15yds, despite having Apex DCAEK, Ram installed. It would have needed a fitted barrel like Grant offers to fix it. I did'nt think it was worth dumping any more money into, so, I sold it.. My G19 will need one of Randy's extractors to straighten it out, and other than that, should need nothing else..I'd just wait it out..

Unfortunately it isn't as simple as just buying a gen 3. Then gen 3's are also suspect. What your looking for (as far as i know) is an older gen 3 without the "Dip" in the extractor. This is a gen 4 extractor that they are putting into gen 3's. At a class this weekend Vickers said he would go so far as to look for an even older gen 3 without the "step" in the extractor and believes THOSE are the prime glocks. Very hard to find though. What ever you decide make sure you research it and make sure you know WHEN glock stopped making the most reliable pistol on earth and buy a gun from before that time. Itd suck to sell your perfectly functioning gen 4, buy a newer gen 3 and then have the gen 3 have brass to the face issues.

In all honesty though, is your gen 4 ejecting to the face now? if its not then the chances of it doing so are nearly nil during a home invasion. Many people report a couple thousand rounds through the gun before ejection gets stupid. Brass to the face is shitty but not really a reliability issue. Not saying it couldnt be bad in a fight- but the gun will still run.

New M&P's have a revised barrel and Hilton Yam is informally reporting much better accuracy out of them (2.5" 10 shot group @ 25 yds). His post and seeing that the lockup was apparently much tighter put me over the top and I went and picked up a M&P9 FS to match my compact. That said, help is just around the corner for your Glock. I'd wait it out. Randy should have the extractors out in a few months. And starting over with a new platform is expensive, I did it once going from a "good" gen 3 G19 to M&P a couple years ago.

Have you contacted Glock about the problem? Most likely they will ship out a new corrected ejector free.

Seems like your jumping ship before even examining the problem and trying a simple fix.

Slow down and take a breath if your still carrying the pistol and your worried about a piece of brass to the face just tilt the pistol 15 degrees to the right which should redirect brass a way from the face until you have the ability to swap out the ejector.
