Id' say mostly a plus.... and also for the mfgr or they wouldn't do it. I don't have much experience with the Ruger 1911's but they seem OK. They have disappointed me with their AR's though.

Extra Stout Plunger Tube installed—four pegs instead of two.

ESPT compared to the one that came off. Springfield’s plunger tubes are actually beefier than most and this one I think acquitted itself very well, lasting 140K rounds. So much for MIM (done right) sucking; remember that many of the stock parts, the MIM parts, are still holding up on this long-term crusader.

Rob’s bbl today, for the record. 140K on the gun, to-be-calculated on this barrel which is number four.

    This thread excites me.

Ned, is this the only 1911 Rob shoots or are there others that he shoots to such a high level and round count?

Rob has several others-- only one other is subject to high-voulme use but I think that's still at a much lower rate than this one. I'm sure it's in use until I get this one back to him in a few days.

Note that the ejector on this one is not pinned, as Springfield was doing for a while (dunno if they still are, I have not kept track). They were setting them in with glue and some people were not terribly keen on that idea-- although the ejector can't come out as long as the slide is in place. It is not loose. I might have a foggy memory that it was loose and I LocTited it at one point but I can't be sure. Anyway it's the original MIM'd part and is still there and still doing the job.

    Ned,

Enjoy your updates on this one. Please keep them coming.

    Question-
In the first photo, what is the horizontal line just aft of the slide stop window?

    Thanks

This continues to be one of my favorite threads, from any board, ever. Rob's pistol is the example of what a properly made 1911, serviced by a premier pistolsmith, is capable of.

Thank you Ned, for your continued input and sharing here.
