I'm going to have to buy one, just as a range toy.

One thing just popped in my mind, an "abnormality" per se for a rifle of the A2/A4 size. Colt is releasing this version with the M4 feed ramps. My A4 in the Corps. did not have this while the M4's did. I know why it is on the carbines, but on a rifle length gas system weapon is it going to create any differences in how it runs or is it a moot point?

While M4 ramps are not needed on a rifle, it doesn't hurt anything to have them. They should reduce the amount of dinging and scratching the bullets take when fed into the rifle.

Using M4 ramps will ensure the upper is compatible with most barrels

to me it's just a matter of standardization.
since it wont hurt there's no reason to keep in production 2 different receivers and 2 different barrel extensions.
just like the gold extractor spring developed for the M4 that will be standard for the M16 as well.

Thanks for the clarification. Hoping they can keep the production numbers up for this model and that the other novelty models don't take time away from it.

If it doesn't need to be a Colt, BCM's version should fit the bill.

Funny, I bought a BCM 20" because I couldn't find a Colt, nor was Colt making one.

Wounder if they will sell just the upper?

I bought the bcm 20" as well. I wanted a colt but did not want a hbar and couldnt justify buying a 1000$ colt and having the barrel lightened or swapping the barrel. After researching bcm on here i am convinced they are a fine alternative.

Btw the guy above will not be happy but mine has an aimpoint on it!!!!

Awesome that Colt is offering A4s.

Just an FYI the standard weapon in my unit for my 03 and 05 tours was a FN M16A4 with an Aimpoint. Also used this same combination in basic training in 2002.
