Many Army M16A4s have the Aimpoint as the standard optic.

That picture looks like it was taken on a real US Army rifle qualification range and shows a real US Army sergeant shooting a real US Army M16A4 rifle with a real US Army M68 Aimpoint in a real US Army QRP mount...

I think its real... And yes he is really not wearing eye protection and really only using foam ear plugs, but that is (was) the reality of the Big Army…

I'm not arguing the Aimpoint anymore. Shouldn't have from the beginning.

Just didn't like the YHM gas block...

I've looked though this entire thread and still have no idea what gas block you're referring to, though if there is one, I'll agree with you.

I'm in the same boat.I'd like an A4 clone myself.
FWIW,I recently heard a rumor that FN will be releasing a civilian version of their AR rifles at Shot.I guess we'll know in another week.
I hope it turns out to be true.
The only complete one available now that I would consider is CMMG's Gov't model.

One can pray. While it may be sacreligious to say... I'd put off the Masada to jump on a semi-auto legit FN A4 just due to the personal reasons of haveing carried the M16 varient.

Sadly, the pessimist side of me takes hold and thinks more would have been leaked if this was a possibility. That said, I hope I am wrong.

I hate to zombie this thread but was the only one I recalled with us discussing a factory A4. Well for 2013 is appears Colt has listened and there will be a factory M16A4 20" varient in semi-auto. Finally!

On a side note: I'd bet all of my rifles the RCO-A4 was not issue in '03. I don't think it was issued then. It didn't even exist until '05 or '06.
The AN/PVQ-31A (A4) and B (M4) were type classified in 04, and were deemed top POM priorities for 06. But the Marine Corps used plus up money to get thousands into the field prior to that.

Prior to the RCO, the Marine Corps bought thousands of ACOs (TA31s) TAMCN, E17912B as a COTS to fill an urgent need until the RCO were available.
