Just laying them side by side and eyeballing it, the Ultra bezel is just a tad taller. Maybe 2mm? Should work, although I do not have a rifle setup that way to try it.

The X300 isn't discontinued, so I don't think it's going on sale.

Yeah I know they aren't being discontinued just kind of thinking that since something newer is out their price might drop.

Not really. MSRP on the Ultra is higher, but you can get a similar street price to the regular X300.
