All you cats in the occupied state of Illinois and those in the Wisconsin area that are interested in a class, here is what I suggest.

Start PM'ing each other and then spread the word at your local shooting places/ gun stores. It's much easier for locals than it is for me.

All we need is a decent classroom with tables and chairs and an overhead type projector for computer media.

I will try and work something from my end here. If we can get 15 bodies together then we are good to go.

Good news for Arizonuts! An agreement has been reached (tentative) with a large gun store in the metro Phoenix area to host my 2 day course the 3rd week of November. Keep checking back here as more information becomes available.

I would definitely be interested in this type of class. I'll be getting in touch with mike_556. It's not really in the budget at the moment but I would hate to miss my opportunity since Charlotte isn't too far away.

Anyway I did have a question about how the course will work and exactly what folks would need to bring.

    • Basic Disassembly and reassembly.

    • Complete and detailed disassembly and assembly of weapon.

So would it be best to bring a complete, fully functioning AR that will be completely taken apart (barrel pulled, etc) and then re-assembled; or would it be better to bring all the individual pieces for a rifle that would get assembled during the class? Or both?

You can do either. In any case you will get to know your weapon. Possible future classes will allow students to buy all the parts needed and build the gun the class.

That would be an awesome opportunity.

I know it was mentioned earlier, but is there any possibility that in the future there might be a toolkit offered as an option at additional charge?

Tools may be an option. They would need to be ordered in advance. The links I posted is probably the most economical way to get them and Brownells is a great company.

Great news! Midwest Industries- www.midwestindustriesinc.com has agreed to host a course here in Wisconsin at their store front. Please check the Misc. AAR and Training Area as well as this thread for updates.

In addition I will be partnering up with LMS Defense and teaching some courses through them. We are looking at December for the fisrt class in Twin Falls, ID.

I'm going to try real hard to get to one of these classes if it's within a days drive of Reno. The proposed class at LMS in Twin Falls looks like the best bet right now. Unless you want to switch to LMS in Fernely and save me about 1200 miles of round trip driving... Will the course announcement, payment, registration, etc. be via the LMS website?
As to what I'd like to see: I don't have much to add to what's already been suggested or proposed. Maybe some time on switching handguard systems (like from standard to free float or vise versa) if it wouldn't take too much time away from more important fundamentals.
