And so the long wait begins...

So, on Orkan's advice, I forewent the chassis system I was planning on from Roedale and ordered a Manners T2 for my .308 project.

Just got confirmation today from Manners, 16 weeks. Guess I'll just have to shoot the piss out of the rifle now with it's Hogue jelly stock in the mean time.

Yeah, I think I will. They're totally reliable out to 50,000 rounds on the same barrel without any kind of cleaning, and keep .5 MOA too.

I shot my gumby stock for a while. I just used a pack and kept the pack close to the action. I upgraded mine incrementally. I even shot that turd Xmark trigger for a while.

    Res-erection!

Just got the email from Manners, the stock shipped today and UPS should deliver on Thursday.

When I ordered, they said they were running at around 16 weeks. It seems the actual time from order to deliver will be exactly 17 weeks.

Can't wait! I'll put up some pics and such, of course.

I'm sure you will be very happy with your Manners stock. Many feel that Manners are better than McMillans...I've owned a few McMillans, but I haven't owned a Manners yet.

My friend has a Manners and he's very happy with his stock purchase.

Manners stocks are very nice. My next build will include a Manners, unless a ridiculous deal for a McMillan comes my way.

Does it have the mini chassis?

    Ok guys, update time.

I got it all installed. This is NOT the mini chassis version, as I purchased the T2 for my Howa 1500 with 20" heavy barrel.

I took it to the range the day I got it (Thursday), and had a bit of fun just before I lost too much light. I found out my scope just doesn't like to be shot near dusk, my eye kept losing focus on the reticle. In any case, after getting a good zero, I did manage to put 7 shots in the size of my wedding ring at 100 yards off of a bipod, and I am by no means a great shooter.

Here are some rough pics right after install, going to be a bit before I can do a "proper" photo shoot....

I gotta say, I really really like the T2. The front of the stock is nice and wide, perfect for riding on bags, and very comfortable to hold in the hand.

However, I am running into an issue that I hope some guys here can help with. Manners did a good job with the barrel channel, but it is not completely even. There are a couple points where the material is pinched in and pressing up against the barrel.

    Here is one example,

I'm talking hundreds of an inch here. It isn't enough to make me want to send it back to Manners, as I think I can do it myself. What is the best way to fit this a little better? Should I grab a sanding block and just slowly work it back a bit until there is no contact?

So they did a good job even though it is screwed up? I wouldn't call that a good job. I would use a barrel channel tool unless the polymer is glass filled. A proper sized dowel with sandpaper would work.
