That's Tom Sarver. great guy, impressive competitor. He runs some really cool matches up there. The "headhunter" match is one of the most fun 20 rounds you'll ever shoot. seriously, it's worth the drive. I went last year and year before, but didn't make it yet this year.

edit: another impressive feat... at my PMG Spring Team Match, Sarver was shooting the long range stage. 2 rounds at about 1100 yards. According to George Gardener (GAP) who was ROing with a monster team scope... Sarver had his second round in the air before the first one hit the target. (I think he was shooting a 260rem bolt gun, but don't remember). Anyway, I asked Tom about it after the match and he said he saw the trace from his first shot and new it was good and went ahead and sent the second one. wish i could do that!

Tom sure spends a lot of time talking to shooters. I hear that guys name EVERYWHERE.

I've never shot with him but I've heard enough stories to plug up the missouri if they were printed.

The problem is that most people don't run a fast enough cartridge that leaves enough trace to be able to see it.

I bet that 7 hulk is running about 5 mils to 1000yds. That's just a guess. That means at 25x, the trace doesn't leave the scope. Granted, you better be behind the rifle right... but as long as she's coming straight back, that trace will look like a train going through the air at mach 10.

Just out of curiosity, what would be a round-about approximate BC for that round?
Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my AR.

i "believe" the groups was shot with a 338, but not 100% sure ... i was just shooing at a 12" plate and a 24" plate at 1 mile at this same range with my 260 using 142smk, 22mils, and from 1 to 2.5mil wind that day..

i hit the 24 a few times, and got with in inchs of the 12"
the shooter next to me with a 300wm and 208amax i think hit it once and called it a day

No dude is going to get shot in the chest at 300 yards and look down and say "What is that, a 3 MOA group?"
