I received this email from Vortex yesterday.

    Good afternoon,

Thank you for reaching out to us. To answer your question, we are discussing different variants of the Razor HD Gen II 1-6X24. At this point, we are not sure which reticle/ configurations will be offered or when they will be offered but please keep an eye out. We are always coming out with new and interesting ideas. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thank you for your interest in Vortex Optics and have a great Labor Day weekend.

    All the best,

    Jim Jordan

I think they would hit it out of the park with a decent reticle. Their non-commital answer does cause for some concern.
    I paint spaceship parts.

I actually contacted Vortex a couple of years ago about a reticle redesign, and while their response was very polite it was also very clear that they were not interested in my input.
Not that I care, if they make a reticle I like I might try it out, but until then...well...
If you like what they offer, go for it.

I don't know if I want to wait for who knows how long to see the future reticle options for this scope or check out other 1-6/8x scopes that will be coming out real soon. Not to get to far of track, but this one looks interesting if it is not to much of a tank in the weight department.

Here is a little more info on this scope from an email I received from them a few days ago.

Thank you for your interest in our products. We are planning on our 1-8x being available to order sometime in September of this year. The first release will be a 30mm tube , slimline knobs, 2 reticle choices and retail will be $1,945.00.

I have put you r name on a contact list for when we have more information. Please continue to check back to our website for any further information that we may release.

    Thank you,

USO is one of the more customer responsive companies that I have worked with.

I have been in the market for a quality 1-6x scope over the last several months. I thought that the Vortex might be the one, but I'm not a big fan of the reticle. Presently, I feel like I keep waiting for the next "best" thing to hit the market....or best for my applications anyway.

I like the idea of the USO. I wish they'd go with a rheostat for illumination instead of the digital. Every button-style illumination control I've ever used has been sucky and slow. I'm still considering saying fukitol and start looking around for a Leupold CQBSS or a Premier 1-8 on the secondhand market since nobody has yet to make a 1-6 with the features I want.
I'm not cool. I just do this stuff for fun.
