    Centurion rail install problem

You're probably wondering what in the world could be the problem since this rail is considered one of the easiest to install. I'm attempting to remove the handguard cap which is proving to be a real headache. The instructions per the website say to rotate the cap until the gas tube hole is at the bottom of the barrel near the sling attachment point so you can cut at that point. This is not happening. It absolutley will not rotate.

I made some cuts with some snips and tried to pry it of that way but it's literally just sheering around the barrel. I feel like if I just keep pulling and twisting, I'll take all the metal off around it leaving nothing to work with. Its like its fused to the FSB. How can I get this thing to rotate better yet come off?

Just keep at it. It will eventually break loose. Some of those are more difficult than others.

Yup, make the cut all the way down, and then tear it off.

Better yet, knock the 2 taper pins out and slide the fsb off. I generally don't like to destroy parts that I may use again some day.

I cut mine around the gas tube so I didnt damage it. I then wedged a flathead between the sight and the handguard cap, wiggling it in until it touched the barrel. Turned 45 degrees or so and the moved the tip down some. It slowly moved the cap out from under the sight and the vise grips did the rest.

Don't remove the FSB unless you want a headache! Take it from me, I did. You can get it off with persistence without messing with the FSB

The whole idea of the Centurion is that you don't need to remove the FSB or barrel to install it. Removing the FSB is counter-productive. He just needs to keep going at the handguard cap. When I installed my Centurion, I thought that I'd never get the cap off, but I just had to keep cutting and wiggling the cap until it snapped.
