So when do you think "IT" could happen?

Since we have a few threads going on now about preparing, defense, ect., I thought it would be interesting to get some of you guys' perceptions on when "it" will kick off and all these plans and preps will need to be implimented? How far down the dead end road are we? Is there time to turn things around and take a different course? What's your opinion?

Lots of variables, so maybe an explanation of "why" would be necessary.

The Mayans could know something we don't.

If not that then some unseen rock in space or a new super bug will kick us all in the ass.

Or the biggest threat............. Another four years of Obama.
We are all inclined to judge ourselves by our ideals; others, by their acts.

Right lol, and that is part of the reason I ask this. People have been predicting and preparing for this or that for many more years than I've been alive. I think it's good to be prepared, but lately this kind of talk has been kicked into overdrive. So if something is really going to happen...what, when, and why?

I think "It" will actually be 2-3 major occurrences which combined set off the landslide. One of the occurrences will probably be a natural disaster or terrorist attack coupled with something else extremely unstable.
But... I really don't sit around thinking about "it" nor do I plan for one specific threat.

My guess is nothing's going to happen, at least not in our lifetime. Nothing on a global apocalyptic scale like in the movies (or people's fantasies). There's not going to be a zombie horde, there's not going to be an uprising/revolution, there's not going to be a Red Dawn. The most that anyone is going to have to deal with would be mass riots, natural disasters, terrorist attacks or other things that are going to be somewhat localized and result in the temporary breakdown or law and order.

However, ... if an asteroid hits the planet we can all bend over and kiss our ass goodbye.

    Who do you listen to?

The one's that got the 2008 stock market crash and housing bubble right years in advance ; Gerald Celente, Peter Schiff, Nouriel Roubini, Dr. Marc Faber & others? OR do you listen to the rest of the MULTITUDE of pundits who called these men "doom & gloom" and got it completely WRONG?

Everyone of the former says anytime after the 3rd quarter of 2012 and into 2013 the perfect storm is brewing. No one knows exactly the scale or magnitude. Many of these same men think very bad. They use words like civil war, fighting in the streets, world war III for cryin out loud. These are serious men. Roubini is head economics professor at NYU. This ain't no schmuck! None of these men are. Celente's decade's long track record is both legendary & remarkable. Your govt. is certainly preparing for civil unrest. Any reasons you have for thinking the dollar & other world currencies are more stable please share with me.

Bernanke is already seriously talking QE3 is imminent. Europe is as f@#ked as ever and also about to implode finally. We're 16 TRILLION In debt and GROWING. This will never be paid back. Sooner or later we have to seriously inflate our way out of it or default. Sooner or later you run out of road to kick the can down. There are so many things that could be the straw that breaks the camels back and kicks things off. If nothing happens I would find it a miracle. Miracles do happen from time to time including finding more road to kick the can down for a little bit further.

Trust me I'm 53 now and only wish things would get better, not worse. I am in no way welcoming any further decline. This is not what I had envisioned heading into my golden years and retirement. But if we're going to have an economic collapse I want it to happen sooner than later while I'm still fairly young, strong as ever and healthy. 10 more years will make a big difference to me.

Still, I prefer to listen to those that got it right the first time. I can't stick my head in the sand like so many I know and even on here. Not my nature. Google or Youtube those men yourself. Listen to what they have to say. Learn of their track recdord for getting things right.

    DEBT DEATH SPIRAL.

We will abandon the US Dollar and start the New American Dollar backed by something or other. Debt in the old dollars will not be honored. China will rant and rave. There will be a ripple effect or wave effect of investment houses going bankrupt. Credit will have to be secured with tangible assets. Those relying on credit will be toast.

Pay off all your debts before then if at all possible. GTFO of government bonds of any kind.

I could go on but you get the idea.

If the country destroys or devalues the dollar, we can expect a total implosion of the civilized world. It may even be worse than if we continue to let socialists trample the constitution. Maybe

    Lightbulb

Well in about 6,000,000,000 years our sun will consume the last of its hydrogen. Until then it's any one's guess.

IMHO, we're circling the bowl as a Republic while the globalization drum is being beat.
