Need opinions on a few 1x4 scopes

For my wedding anniversary my wife is gonna get me 1x4 scope. I am doing a lot of research lately to find whats best for me. It would be mostly for target/range shooting, $400 max.

    Here are my options:
    -Nikon M-223
    -Leupold Mark AR
    -Primary Arms 1x4
    -Leatherwood CMR
    -Weaver Classic Extreme
    -Leupold VX-Hog

    All opinions welcome.

I've had the burris tac30 1-4, the leatherwood cmr1-4, and the primary arms 1-4.
I sold the primary arms and am going to sell my leatherwood cmr's.

From my extremely limited exposure to the listed options as well as hearing about then from other users, I would recommend the Burris.

I've been eyeing the Vortex Viper PST 1-4, this looks like a great optic. I've seen nothing but good reviews on this optic. It has target adjustable turrets and a lighted circle reticle that suppose to work great on 1X for CQB. Looks like it retails for around $599.00 but I'm sure one could be found for less.

Looked at the Vortex as well but the price is high for the budget since my wife is buying the scope, the Burris on the other hand is probably the max she would be willing to dish out for.

I definitely understand that. Maybe you could talk her into waiting a little longer and saving the cash to get a little better quality, although I cannot speak of the quality of the Burris.

I'm very happy with my Nikon 1-4x (an African version, not the M-223).

I have the Burris and the Vortex. Not to take away from the Burris because it's a nice scope at that price point, but it feels like a 800.00 difference rather than a 200.00 one between it and the Vortex. I am so happy with it, I don't think I'll upgrade for years. Keep your eyes open for a used one since the 1-6 is out, some will sell off their 1-4-

Thanks for recommending the Vortex but that and the Burris is out of the question due to her only being able to afford $340 for everything (including shipping). Since its for range shooting/plinking I don't need something too expensive, which is fine by me. I also added the Weaver Classic Extreme to the list, any info on it is welcome.

It just so happens that I'm looking for a 1-4 also. My question is, is the Optisan Mamba w/ EAR30 mount even worth considering? I do understand it's a very inexpensive scope and also understand the "you get what you pay for" adage when it comes to optics. I'm in the same boat as the OP, I just don't have much money right now or the foreseeable future. I want to use it for paper punching and local tactical matches.
