I would definitely regret not saving up another $100 and getting the Vortex if I was to buy the Burris. Just do a side-by-side comparison of the two and you can see the difference is huge for not much more $.

If you read the post my wife is buying the scope for me. Besides I don't shoot that often and really don't want a $500 scope just sitting on my AR most of the year. I already have a Vortex Strikefire I paid $158 for really have no use for something expensive.

Then honestly you should just go with the Millett DMS-1 and a good mount like Larue Tactical. That way in the future when you can afford a good scope you have the mount already to go.

The DMS sucks and the MTAC is worlds better.

Apparently he's just looking for something very cheap, and useful, that will fill the void on the top of the rifle. The DMS should work fine for him it sounds like.

The internet rumor is the DMS and the PA are the same, just that the PA is cheaper. I do like the recticle on the DMS though. But I am down to the vx-hog, the weaver classic extreme, or Burris TAC30

My advice is to save for a aimpoint 3x magnifier and pro. The pro is $400 shipped from www.grandrtactical.com and you get a free aimpoint hat. Then I would save a bit more and get a 3x magnifier. My experience in buying what I could afford at the time never worked out for me. In the end I always said to myself " I should have saved.... I should have waited"

I already have a Vortex Strikefire. I understand where you are coming from. For range use only I just want something affordable and decent.

    Thumbs up

I use the Burris Xtreme Tactical XTR 1-4X-30mm and the Leopold VX-R 1-4X-30mm Pig Plex FireDot, they are both outstanding quality. Have used the Burris for five years now and the Leopold for one year, excellent glass, optics, reticules, etc. allowing me to make precise lethal single shot kills each and every time:
