    Well, not quite.

You're right that import, manufacture, sale, or transfer of normal capacity magazines is illegal, but possession is not illegal.

When in doubt, any questions about CA laws (and the loopholes therein) should be referred to CalGuns...

I didn't say possession was illegal. But if you don't possess a 30 rd mag now, don't worry about it because you'll never legally possess one in Cali. And if you do possess one, you probably know the laws already since it's been almost 13 yrs since the ban went into effect.

Never say never, I know about a legal route that is being pursued that will open the sale of greater than 10 round magazines to everyone, not just those of use that are exempt to the law. I think there may be a lawsuit or two challenging the law in court as well, but the route I'm talking about completely nullifies the law and makes it impotent, more so than it already is.

Also keep in mind the burden of proof falls on the state to prove you broke the law, you don't have to provide evidence that you purchased the magazines prior to the ban. Nobody keeps receipts that long, add in the fact that you can legally rebuild the magazine, completely replacing every single part. Really the only way they can get you on it is by either you opening your mouth and omitting to breaking the law or getting caught red handed crossing the state border. But, even if one was to break the law (shouldn't, even though it is an unconstitutional law) it has a three year statute of limitations, which isn't all that long.

    +1

Again, the guys over at CalGuns have sorted this all out.

Suffice it to say here that there are big loopholes in the CA AWB...
