Exclamation PSA.. if u have a QD, dont leave it on all the time..

PSA.. if u have a QD, dont leave it on all the time.. or it wont come off.... AAC posted a pic of a QD they was welded with carbon to the can, i have a QD YHM with the 308 brake.. it was on my bolt gun and i think i havent removed it for 300 to 500 rounds i think...

went to take it off the other day and it wouldnt turn... had to have a buddy hold the gun, while i grabbed it with both hands

got it to turn, but then the carbon ring wouldn't let it come off the mound.. i had to yank it a few times to brake the carbon to get it off...

its now clean due to some MP-PRO7 and a wire brush..

i then sprayed the mount with moly spray, them coated in never seize ...

I had this happen with my M42K. It was on so tight I thought I'd screwed the pooch. I called AAC and they said to give it some more torque and that it wouldn't break anything. I let it soak in Kroil a few days and sure enough, it came off. It felt like I was going to twist the mount off the barrel, but the Rocksett held.

I know with the Gemtech HALO, they say if it's stuck, dump a mag or two, get some oven mitts and gloves or something and remove it while it's still really hot.

That might help with QD suppressors too.

My own experience is as follows:

    I have the following setup:
    10.3" barrel,
    AAC MB,
    M4-2000.

It is a dedicated suppressed setup. Meaning the weapon is never shot without the suppressor and the suppressor is never removed from the weapon.

I have over 3,000 rounds like this without cleaning the mount at all and I have never even had a remotely difficult time removing the suppressor. This is even after modifying the mount to get that one last "click" in to make the suppressor rock solid.
Why do the loudest do the least?

I guess they contradict each other.

My point is that it is rarely removed and I have never had a problem even with thousands of rounds between removal.

    Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

    Euro,
I run the same combo (mount and suppressor). What mod did you do to get the suppressor tighter? Can you provide details? Thanks!
