Basically, get what you want. As for myself, I don't need all the rail estate of a quad. Not sure I need much of a top rail either.
The job of a handguard on a rifle is to first and foremost, protect the shooter from a hot barrel. Somehow, on an AR that got turned around into it being a heat sink so one has to wear gloves. That's pretty silly in my book. My MOE handguards do a damn fine job of protecting my hands from the hot barrel. It's a poor heat sink, of course, but that hasn't hurt my rifle any although I've shot it enough to get it quite hot!
Aluminum handguards were a poor idea as far as protecting the shooter from heat goes and with modern materials, aluminum handguards are sadly out-dated. Or at least they should be. Carbon fiber is a much better choice. It's tough, lightweight and is excellent at offering heat protection. We should ditch the antiquated aluminum handguards for those made of more modern matrials and move into the 21st century

This is too good to pass up. Cowboy up and make her pay for the wedding. Take your 6920, get a couple thousand rounds, take the class now instead of next year, and don't get all wrapped up about rails, tubes, heat dissipation, whatever. Focus on you, the rifle, the ammo, and the class. You'll be way ahead of the curve. No bull.
If I was on a budget and had a 6920, I'd slap a KAC RAS on there and call it good until I figured out what I really wanted later on.

olds442tyguy: I prefer buying American not because of the cost, but because of the integrity. I'd rather send some greedy American guy a couple extra bucks than pay a couple bucks for an inferior product that's likely made from recycled condoms.

I was all excited over the Keymod and similar rails, and beginning to want one. I have currently Vltor VIS setups.
Then I put LaRue index clips on my VIS.
I don't really care about the Keymod/tubular HG's one way or the other, now. I REALLY! like those index clips. Very comfortable.
I hate to shill LaRue's product, but it really does deliver in this instance.
The lesson I learned was that the rail-cover will make or break the rail, and how you perceive the carbine. With a tube...you get a tube. Like it or not. With the rail, you can play around with it until you find what works best.
