That's serious disgust. We'll let you keep your quad rail.

I generally prefer tubes to rails as I am not a real or mall ninja and I have no need to hang stuff all over it. But i have no desire to ditch the quad on my DDV3 either. It still feels more oval shaped than square, and I'm not going to bother with changing it. I like my Troy Alpha tube significantly more than my DDV7 tube though. Any future build or buys I make will most likely wear Troy tubes I'm quite certain.

Hahahaha this had me LOLing for a good while.

This is too good to pass up. Cowboy up and make her pay for the wedding. Take your 6920, get a couple thousand rounds, take the class now instead of next year, and don't get all wrapped up about rails, tubes, heat dissipation, whatever. Focus on you, the rifle, the ammo, and the class. You'll be way ahead of the curve. No bull.
Yeah...she would get over it. I do really like this idea...it just might work. Screw the red hair, big boobs, and tight p****. Is it bad that I'm counting down my first AR class after the honeymoon? LOL

Gentlemen, thank you for the opinions and prompt replies. I have gotten my hands on quad rails and a VTAC and Alpha tube. I think for my uses I will be getting a VTAC. Several of you have vouched for the strength of the rails staying on, and the heat issue I can overcome with gloves etc. Thanks again for the advice. Will be posting it in the pic section when I'm done.

I also just like the way they look.

Do you have a picture of your fiance? I'm not getting a good visual from your description.

Fact: A tube rail is the only rail that I have torqued off while trying to remove a damn flash hider. Whats wrong with that? Well, let me tell you, the rail screws were loctited while the flash hider was not.
That tube is now right where it belongs, on my .22 upper. LaRue, RIS2, or Centurion is the only way to fly.

I'd put the Geissele SMR rails up against the Larue, RIS2, or Centurion in terms of strength any day of the week and twice on sunday.

I'd assume the SMR rails are in the "tube" category.

    Your flash hider removal process.
There is no reason a non-railed handguard has to use a weaker attachment method, that some do can't be used to claim all are weak.

For those that use backing plates it's true, but not all tube handguards use them. KeyMod and tubes that are threaded attach easily from the outside.

I completely agree, I didnt mean to imply a blanket statement on any models accept the Troy / Vtac style, which are the only style ive owned; and I will accept that comment on my wonky removal process

I'm torn myself between the DD RIS II and the new Geissele MK1. The Geissele certainly seems heavy duty.

Yes I spoke too soon. I think the new breed of tubes are more of a hybrid I suppose. Yours and the Noveske are a new class in my mind. I should have been more specific-
