The Centurion FSP would be a very simple install on your 6920.

I personally really like the versatility of the quad rail, and paired with LaRue index clips it is still very low profile and light.

The troy tubes have never interested me.

I'm positive you won't regret going with the VTAC. I love mine, and I run it hard, it seems to be holding up very well. I was a little concerned with the TRX mounting system, but it seems to do the job just fine. I'm sure you'll end up with the "Alpha" mounting version, witch I hear is an improved method of attachment, that is much stronger. The TRX is plenty strong, so if the Alpha is better it must be rock solid.

I'd assume the SMR rails are in the "tube" category.
The SMR is a quad without the rails, like a KAC URX III and clearly not a tube.

I do plan on taking classes with this rifle. I have taken several classes for both shotgun and handgun. I practice what I learn in classes so I will be doing rapid fire work with my AR. This rifle will probably replace my shotgun for a home defense long gun.

I was tempted at first to just put on a Centurion Arms C4 cutout and just be done with the damn thing.

So far though, most people seem to say the VTAC will get the job done for classes and hard practice sessions.
I used a VTAC TRX in a Mike Pannone class this spring and never had the slightest issue with heat. Temps got into the 70s so nothing got terribly hot. Long practice sessions on 100 deg day have made me reach for a pair of gloves but then practicing with gloves on is not the worst idea in the world every now and then

Mine is the older TRX mounting system and the front Heli-Coil pulled. I just added a backing nut and have not felt the urge to return it to Troy for replacement. With the backing nut I crank it down tight and it does stay put.

I have setup 3 other carbines using the new Alpha system and can't see a downside to that setup.

The VTAC style seems much nicer in the hand than the standard Troy, at least to me.

    Two things for me:
    1. I don't like the looks of the tubular rails.
    2. I don't trust the attachments you have to install on the tubular rails so you can install a VFG or a flashlight.

That being said, quadrail for me - Centurion (based on reviews) or DD (I have two RIS II, my favorites).

I know Armalite is not considered a top tier manufacturer but I did have a chance to check out one of their new free floating tube handguards on an AR10 tht a guy had at the range last week and it looked sturdy and simple. They are only $80 and come in different lenghts. Example:

I also bridge the gap between the upper and VTAC tube with a .450 riser for mounting the optic. This adds considerable strength to the setup and allows proper eye relief when using a magnified optic.

It all depends on the length of the rail. On longer ones I prefer the slimmer and streamlined tube rails. On smaller compact setups I prefer a quad rail because I use a vert grip on the smaller guns and the bulk isn't an issue. The Centurion rails get my vote for ease of installation and overall ruggedness.

Agreed, I also prefer "tube" rails for anything that I will run a 10" or longer rail on. Any shorter rail and I would prefer a quad. The tubes work great for extended thumb over bore techniques.
