Review update with the Shooting Sight trigger: The purchasing process went smoothly and the product itself is very nicely made (it's clear a lot of research went into the manufacturing if you read more about it). Installation took me a little time as I had to make sure I got all of the springs together correctly (pictures help!). The hammer seemed to bind just slightly when drying firing and releasing by hand - I called SS (who answered promptly and clearly has researched the operation of the trigger and system extensively). There didn't seem to be any issues and it might been a trait of the factory setup that I just never noticed.

The SS trigger includes a heavier spring for US made Sigs that apparently only include one - I opted to keep the dual disconnecter springs from the factory.

Shooting with the trigger is improved. The "three stage" feeling of the trigger is smoother now with a clear first stage then clean break on the second as intended. I recommend the trigger to anyone looking for an improved factory feel without compromise.

I installed the Shooting Sight hammer and disconnector in my 552's lower last night. It's been long enough since I've done one that I pretty much forgot the installation process. After I tried a few things, I remembered what to do. I opted to put one of the factory springs inside the larger Shooting Sight disconnector spring. It works fine, but I'll try the dual disconnector spring setup next time.

When I originally called he said you can use the spring method as you describe too. They both seem to accomplish the same goal.

Gee-Bee is just flooded with sellers all stepping on each other trying to flip 55x firearms.

If they will wait a year or two they may obtain another 50-100% profit.

Good lord, when did the 550-1 Sniper version roll in?

I ‘believe’ they may be missing a few factory accessories. I am not sure. I do not have an example.

Charlie from University Gun & Pawn has a couple up on GB. Standard pistol grip, no scope, shorter bull barrel than older models, standard 550 stock on one example but both marked SIG 550-1 Sniper. I know the individual first hand, I think his table was the first time I ever saw a HK PSG1 in person at a gunshow. Also pretty sure he had the first Barrett M82A1 I ever saw. Had a chance to buy all three back in the day, but it was rare sniper rifle vs. pre 86 dealer sample for the same price and I always ended up buying another squirt gun.

Additionally, the prospect of a 5.56 sniper rifle held little appeal for me even if it was a super rare Swiss unicorn. Came close to the PSG1 a few times but couldn't get past the fact that for 1/5th the price I could set up a 700 that would run circles around it all day long. Eventually I grabbed a M82A1 when I did a Barrett Group buy back in the day on TOS but I even let that one go once prices of .50 got incredibly stupid combined with the fact that opportunities to shoot it beyond 300 yards required a road trip.

Still wouldn't mind having a PSG1 but that's a lot of coin these days.

It took a few design interations, but my son was able to 3D print Sig 55X followers and floor plates. Hopefully I'll be able to test them next weekend to see how durable they are.

Had the 553 out on the range again today. It decided to turn into a Garand as the retainer screw on the B&T optic mount loosened (it wasn’t locktited) and made a nice ping sound as it flew over my shoulder (no optic was mounted).

One of the Dominion mags consistently double feeds so that is going to probably not be used anymore.

Finally I was shooting on the 1.3 setting (will switch back to 1.2). I’m not sure if it was the setting or something else but the bolt carrier lightly impacted the rear of the receiver at some point.

I have a long history of firearms finding ways to fail on me so I’m not entirely surprised but would like to remedy it if possible. Still very low round count shooting factory ammo (mostly XM193 Prvi).
