I've got a SiCo Omega and four Dead Air Sandmans so with a KeyMo mount, I can run any on the 553's. The 553R with Omega and direct thread and four position piston was very soft-shooting when I tried last fall. I run a dedicated Sig SRD556 on one 553...didn't want to use a mount for it due to clearance on the gas system on my 9".

You should be able to clear with any mount on a 553-LB though.

Sucks that GT changed them, mine will even fit HK93/33 flash hiders. They really had a winner there with the original design.

Can you please post a picture of a 553 SB with a can mounted via keymo?

I have three 553's to run cans on so not pressed to add another for the 551, 550's or PE90 unless it's a good design.
B&T USA doesn’t outsource their cans (made in Tampa by B&T USA) and they are making per the Swiss TDP. With that said I do feel they are too costly compared to the myriad excellent options in the US. In some circumstances, ie collectors needing the correct can for a particular firearm, the b&t cans are a must own.

They are not yet producing rifle caliber (other than the SPR 300bo) cans in the US.

Good to know. Thanks Josh. I’ll get a sig 550 can if they ever make it.

    FYI

Sig GmbH (CH) does sell factory 553 conversion kits. Two part numbers exist. In this case you can have the best of both worlds - a 552 and 553. Horaaah.

Yes, you can have your cake and enjoy it.

That's not my understanding at all from talking to several friends who are B&T dealers from when they first set up shop in the US but perhaps that's a recent thing. My B&T 45 can is twice as expensive and twice as loud as my TiRant-45. But I guess it has a cool logo on it.

But my info is dated and you would know better than me in any case.

Got my order in and expected to get it in anywhere from 30-120 days. Really looking forward.

I ended up going Short barrel (SB) with gray/green furniture, 4-position gas valve and diopters for a more classic one as my first. In planning to SBR it, now the question becomes fixed or adjustable shoulder stock. On the MP5 platform I prefer the fixed stock and ability to get a nice cheek weld. Wondering from those who have tried both for their opinion of the adjustable if you can get your cheek on it.

adjustable is a must for optics. you can put a cheek riser on a fixed folder but it's a bit of a band-aid
