Swiss SIG 553 pistols have hit the US market

    Can someone say SBR....

Spendy, but tell me the last time a new production all Swiss 55x was available in the US (I'll give you a hint....it was around '88-89).

And these are factory welded picatinney rails.

Mine will go to Marvin Pitts for barrel threading, be SBR'd, and wear an Aimpoint T1.

5k, wow that is pricey. I wonder if they are worth half the value of a pre 89 55x???

Value is in the eye of the beholder. SIG 553s are not available anywhere else. And these are the first ever civilian legal 55x rifles in the US to have the steel picatinney rail.

I believe they are worth the price, especially considering that all of the ex-PD 552-2sp rifles seem to sell for about $5k of late. Would I like them to cost less? Yes. Did the cost stop me from buying one? No.

We are still in a second Golden Age for black rifle collecting. The 553 will not be imported forever. These are certain to be worth significantly more than the current asking price. I only wish I could have purchased in triplicate, one to abuse and two to put away.

5K! I am sure they are nice, but I don't think my wife would be too happy with me if I dropped that kind of coin on one of these.

Holy empty bank account batman! When did this happen and does anyone know anything about the 551's he is referring too?

It just happened. Give Mike a call re: the 551s. This is a GREAT time for SIG collectors.

With the 551's how neutered are they going to be? I assume the "SP" refers to sporter, etc.

Not sure how they will be configured. Give Mike Otte a call or email him; he will tell you how they are to be configured.

Fascinating. I had always heard rumors that another run of Swiss guns was being planned by someone but after Roger sold thru his PD trade-in's nothing ever appeared on the market, until now.

And unlike the LE trade-in 552's Josh and I have these are all new imports. Considering the used 552's were 4k, five thousand seems almost reasonable.

Going to have to check with Mike on the 551's.

Swiss SIG, it is the only gun who's price can make HK look reasonable.....
