Only if your not going to use it, You by any chance don't want to sell that little flip up popsical sight do you? Haha. I've been looking for that little thing forever for my conversion and I eventually just gave up. I'm not positive if it will be the correct height with my hooded front sight (since your 553 came with the non-hooded) or not but at least I could modify it or something.

Well thank you! The only thing is that the 556 Popsicle sight won't work because of the height. My front sight will only play with the Swiss Popsicle.

The Swiss rear Popsicle sight will work with Swiss front fixed hooded sight. Have you checked with CGS and Ben at Gatewood Supply? I'm fairly certain Ben has what you need.

I called Colorado gun sales a year or so ago and they did not have any extras. But yeah, Ben might have them. I never thought to ask him. I bought a bolt and barrel from him a while ago but never thought to ask about the popsicle. I'll do that. Thanks Josh

Just went to the gun store to pick up my 553. There was a good bit of rust in the interior of the receiver. Looks like it's on the surface but for the price these are going for it's pretty disappointing. This is one of the M+M imports so there is a good chance it has been sitting in a distributors warehouse for a while.

Should I be worried about this? None of my guns have ever rusted and I do nothing special to prevent it. This is going to be a shooter, not a collectors item.

Maybe it's improperly finished? Or should I strip the rust, oil it and shoot the snot out of it?

I would oil it, wipe it, shoot it and forget about it, but it is your rifle, if you're going to be forever paranoid about it take it back.

Ya, I am probably going to do that. Just wanna make sure I'm not signing myself for issues down the road.

oil it, nylon brush, clean it out, repeat. I had some rust like that on a Russian gun in a seam and it didn't come back once I did that.
