Well the upper is 1600. A lower and stock is 1100 or so. Bolts are 400 ish. Plus 922r parts if you are so I inclined. So not cheaper than buying an all matching gun but it's still a swiss 550.

If a large number of people are willing to kill you for saying something, then it probably really needs to be said. .

Don't build a kit gun. It won't be worth anything. Buy one of the retarded Blum or Red ones and have it refinished.

Swiss SIG 553 pistols have hit the US market

    Bolts are $650 complete ($400+$250).

I plan on getting a kit for a shooter so I can leave my complete gun unfired. Plus the charging handle and lower.

I've got a 551-2 already so that can be my shooter if I can't snag one

Look at this long term. You'll have this pristine gun for years. Then either you'll sell it our kick the bucket and somebody else will end up shooting it. Shoot it and enjoy life. If you handle it carefully, you'll be able to clean it and it will be near difficult to tell that it was ever fired.

I have two 553's and a 551-2 to shoot and I don't get out that often.

I hear you guys. I have a preban 550sp2 that I don't shoot. I'm actually going to sell it. I have a complete all matching 550P and will soon have a mismatched all swiss parts gun. That one I'm going to shoot the piss out of. The mismatched guns are probably not great investments but if 5 years ago someone told you that you could get a mismatched 550 for 5 grand, we would have been excited.

Exactly.....might lose some value by shooting it but not likely. I'm happy to have one I can shoot and not worry about.

A parts gun is still Swiss. It will still have significant (pun intended) value. And for those of us sitting on a pile of spare parts, lowers, etc, the conversion upper makes sense. I have bolt groups a plenty and lowers for which I paid much less than what they cost now. Which means I can put together a 551 sbr for only $1600 out of pocket right now.

Got my 550 barreled upper this week. Really wanted a pic rail version but I'll take what I can get. Anyone want to trade a flat top 550 upper for one with diopters.
