It seems to me that this should only apply to the manufacturer. It is silly to think that if you buy a magazine and it includes a Canadian made follower you could suddenly be violating the law. Frankly, I have zero actual idea where any of the parts in my guns originated. A big thing in the Swiss watch world is Swiss manufacturers importing parts from China (usually small parts) and selling the watches as Swiss made for thousands of dollars. Hell, I think modern sigs have tons of Indian made parts in them. This is ridiculous. I guess I will try to buy American parts when available but this is nuts.

Yeah, but nobody ever remembers that and they feel stupid about that part when they ask "What US parts did you use?"

It's all about demonstrating your supreme awareness of 922r alchemy skills when discussing firearms on the internet that way other people understand you are a person to be both revered and feared. Nobody wants to be the victim of the "Nice illegal / non compliant firearm" post on the internet.

Toad Bailey used to be a Supreme Grand Wizard when it came to that shit. The fact that he sold US made HK parts was completely unrelated to his internet quest.

Very nice Greg, thank you for sharing the pictures.

It will probably be a couple of weeks but I want to write up a little review of the Shooting Sight trigger for the 553 here next.

I look forward to it. The factory trigger is very good, but definitely doing its own thing. I'll bet this trigger seemed amazing in 88. Hell I still like it.

It’s a good trigger. Nothing earth shattering. It’s most novel aspect is that it’s two additional 922(r) parts. It’s not analogous to a nice AR trigger vs a Mil-spec trigger.

I spoke to the owner of Shooting Sight about the trigger. He said that he can't make one because it's a stamping which is out of his area of expertise.

It could be milled from bar stock. Would just be costly. And not worth it given the limited market share. We are fortunate there is an aftermarket option for the 55x hammer and sear. Art has done a very nice job.

The days of cheap US made 55x parts are long gone. Probably the best way to get them would be to buy 556 complete rifles, remove the bolt group, piston, cocking handle, and fcg parts, then sell the rest on Gunbroker.

Greg, you need to SBR the Galil and SP5. As for 55x furniture, unfortunately GB is your only option right now.

I am going to SBR that SP5 for sure. Unless Biden gets ridiculous I’m keeping the Galil as a pistol.

I have furniture and mags in order from JDI at non-prison rape prices so I think I will wait it out with the brace for now. I wish I could find an old 556 folder but oh well!
