That would make it a machine gun. They've been banned from manufacture for civilians since 1986. So, unfortunately there will be no fun switches.

They are all semi auto..You can find Swiss lowers that have been converted to semi auto, but retain the burst markings. I have one on my 553, not because of the markings, but because I like the balance better with the steel lower.
Is there a reason the regular 553 pistols have been selling for close to $10k on gunbroker? I love mine but at those prices I might cash out...
You 'may' want to wait a while. Assuming Chipman is confirmed he will most likely grab the low hanging fruit - imported semi-auto pistols and rifles. With this being the case the prices will increase. Other items to consider are the euro-dollar exchange rate. Compare the euro-dollar exchange rate from May of 2020, to today. At the least Euro prices will increase across the board.
Today the market on GB is flooded with sellers making a quick buck, by flipping the items. Nothing wrong with trying to make money. After the flippers are gone the prices will increase. NIB SigSauer A.G. products will again be over 12K+ (depending on the model). Supply and demand.

The upper receiver group is the registered part of the SIG 55x series but the fire control group is contained in the unregistered lower receiver. With the SIG there is really no difference between a full auto and a semi upper. Swiss military Pe90s are converted to semi before being released as personal property to retiring/separating personnel. This is usually indicated by a white dot near the selector lever on the lower receiver.
I was told there was an area on one of them for a sear trip lever to function that was different for a semi auto upper and that is why Swiss parts kit lower groups won't magically run your semi auto upper as a select fire simply because you were sophisticated enough to turn the block on the trigger group around.
All my Sigs are semi imports but because they are SBRs they are considered dealer samples even though none of them existed prior to 1986. I was always trying to understand the difference between premay dealer sample SBRs and post sample select fire SIGs and I knew it wasn't all in the fire control parts in the trigger group otherwise the uppers could have never been imported as pre86 status.

Interesting. One of the ones I just received has a white dot. I was wondering why it was there.Originally Posted by TheAlsatian;2958943.
Fullauto uppers have a slotted right bolt rail for the automatic sear release lever. Some semiauto Swiss 55x have an unslotted rail with a shorter steel “carriage block” permanently affixed by two spot welds, while others have a slotted rail with a longer carriage block affixed by three spot welds. These spot welds can be seen externally on the right side of the receiver. The carriage block will not allow a select fire lower to close on a semi upper, because the autosear release lever hits the block.
Re: dealer sample imported SBRs (and other imported non-MG title-2), while the term pre-86 dealer sample is thrown around, it’s an incorrect term. A better description is a post-68 dealer sample. As I know you are well aware it was the 68 GCA that restricted ownership of all imported title-2 firearms by the non-dealer/non-LE/non-gov public. Pre-86 dealer sample really applies to imported MGs that were imported after the 68 GCA, but before 922(o).
Steel lowers have a slightly depressed area to the rear of the left selector that is the location for the white dot to be filled with paint.
