I have 4 AimPoint Micro's, and I love them. It gets pricey to outfit multiple rifles, but they are worth the money. I can't bring myself to get a PRO after having a Micro. The smaller profile works for me. I've never been a fan of the EoTech red dots.

Ranging. BDC on some models. Built in QD on some models... Etc. I own both, have a use for both. Absolute lightweight and minimalist the T1, but for other guns I like the EXPS3 better.

I used one last weekend, had to convince myself I didn't need one, but it was pretty nice. Better eye relief than some of their other models I felt.

Yep. I thought for a minute I was becoming a "bigger" dumbass. Then I saw a photo of one of the two guns that greeted Bin Laden.

I get the typical bombastic "AimPoint for the win!" around here. However, how does the "only idiots use EOTechs" jive with a guy like Kyle Defoor that prefers, advocates and uses the EOTechs. I have both and prefer the EOTech. I wish they hadn't deleted his SME section as he actually discussed this at length.

I had an Eotech about 8 years ago and didn't like it for the reasons that have been discussed.

The exp line seems a lot better. I've seen numerous pics, and a documentary on a green beret unit.

    They all had Eotech's.

Defoor as stated above prefers them and said his high speed low drag buddies did as well.

So, I run the Aimpoint micro on 3 rigs, a TA31A, TR24, and whenever SWFA gets off their ass and ships the new 1-6.

But the exps with the single dot has been on my mind to try.

A 553 was the first RDS sight I cut my teeth on. I liked the reticle a lot and shot one for years, until the battery box took a dump after shooting a little over 10K rounds on it, a year or so ago during a Pat Roger's class. I ran a Aimpoint M4s on another AR for the last few years. Got used to the single dot, then got a 4 MOA H-1, then another, then 3 of the 2 MOA H-1s for my other ARs. The two 4 MOA H-1s got reassigned to one of my AKs and a shotty. For close in shooting, I find the EOTechs much faster, but the battery life and durability of the Aimpoints between the two, are pretty much bomb proof.

When ever I rotate between duty stations they always tend to issue me a different rifle with a different red dot. EoTechs, Trijicons, Bushnells.....etc. I've been very happy with the Aimpoint T1 in the last few years. Very durable, a battery that will literally last years if you leave it on, and very fast and precise. A 2MOA T1 makes for a great general purpose carbine optic, and it will be the one you want should you choose to get the flip up 3x magnifier.
    Insert impressive resume here.

I'm am definitely not an expert by any stretch, and know the Aimpoints have top notch quality and battery life. I just haven't taken much to them, as of yet.

An instructor in the past once told me, it depends which you prefer; looking through a TV type screen, or looking through a tube.

For me, fast shooting is hampered with a tube sight, as it seems to have dramatically less peripheral vision, or depth of field (through the sight itself). It seems no matter how close or far away your eye is from the sight, or how much you try to keep both eyes wide open, it just seems to block more around the target. That seems to cause a delay in precision target acquisition.

Just my impressions. Again, I don't have hundreds of hours using either brand.

I agree Cameron. I read his input on them and found it to be good information. Good discussions from an SME tend to help open people to the possibilities of other options, rather than ever thread touting Aimpoints-or-bust.
