Sample of 2 out of thousands. It is technically more parts to fail but I haven't heard this happening before. Not saying it doesn't though.

They just don't belong on guns in my opinon. Camera gear maybe, but guns? Negative, Ghostrider.

Not sure how much I like the QD point in the stock, but for that G&R awesome price, I might just pick one up to try.

I have to say I have had more issues with QD, even more so than with the cheapo standard mil issue m 16 sling, which says a lot.

The failure point that bugs me about the QD is not that the socket doesn't hold the, um, the probe of the attachment, but the fact that the button can knock into gear or the environment and voila; rifle on the ground.
Had this happen a couple of times when slinging the rifle on my back, and I think once it just wasn't in the socket all the way and the sling just popped out and dangled like a snot.

Exactly... the system is far from having your "shit wired tight".

That's why I was wondering if one could drill out that stupid crap to run a reliable sling attachment through it.

Excellent info. Thanks! I'm far from a HSLD type person, but I've never viewed the QD sling attachment as perfect. Just by design, it does seem that it "could" fail. While it is convenient, it doesn't seem as secure as a standard type sling mount.

I just had a QD piece fail on me this week. Thankfully I didn't drop my gun. The male end (sling side) is broken somehow. I tested it on numerous sockets. When I inserted it, it initially felt secure. A slight turn and it would pop out.

I won't give up on QD sling options, I will just be sure to yank on them to confirm reliability.

One of the reasons I like this stock is that it is simple and could withstand some abuse.

I'm from the Iraqi vacation experience pool, where in a full year in country your rifle was a part of your uniform for about 350 days. This means, to you guys who have not had the pleasure of a military deployment, that the rifle was on you or near you 24/7, being tapped, kicked, leaned on, held, shoved, slung every which way around gear on your person, shot, covered in dust and sand, bounced around inside the HMMM and 5Ton, etc. - this is where you truly find out if that purdy piece of $150 accessory with bells and whistles can stand up to a deployment. (I fully advocate military deployments as the status quo for equipment proving grounds for any new junk that manufacturers seemed to vomit out for the AR platform!)
I'm not too keen on imagining a QD not fail in this kind of stress environment.
It's given that the high-speeds nowadays probably have some QD stuff overseas, but, as markm said, 550 cord fix was an excellent choice there and most of our guys did one form or another of this type of 'enhancement' of issue gear. And it was free!!

There's 550 cord on every AR I own. When I see these rail manuf's and others making room on their stuff for QD sockets, I want to barf.

Looks good to me. I might have to flip my new build around.

I'm a little concerned with the LOP. If it's close to an A2, there's no point to the stock.
