    Leupy DAGR Optic 3x18x44

This new Leupy Optic "DAGR" 3x18x44 looks like it has some potential on a few different platforms I can think of. LMT, KAC, SCAR, HK 417, DTS SRS, Bolt Guns etc.
Weight (34.2 ozs) is biggest negative I can see. I would be tempted to use RMR RDS/Doc Optic/Burris for CQB in lieu of heavier T-1 etc. Testing to & will follow no doubt. But to have the flexibility to go from 1X to 3X18 is getting closer to Tactical Nirvana for me. Leupy says first plane focal as well.

If it's been posted before my apologies. Just link it or redact if in fact that is the case.

I think the method has been in use for a while (albeit without a scope manufacturer up until now lowering the elevation knob).

What happens if I whack that aimpoint? Will it rotate out of position? It is only a friction hold?

Larue has been making an Aimpoint mount which looks the same.

I think it would be better off forward of the elevation turret, especially for something you would be dialing on.

For that amount of coin you could just get a Swarovski.

IMHO for that application I think a Schmidt 3-12X PMII in KAC one piece mount, with T-1 in a KAC 45* offset mount, and offset Micro sights would be a smarter setup.

Canting > Chinweld. Could even have about the same price.

Set up looks good, I like the GDI 0moa for the mount. The 3-18 is a lot of optic for a 5.56 or 7.62 gun. I like the profile of the MK 6 now that they have lowered the elevation turret.
Leupold has definitely stepped up their game with the mk 6 and mk 8 line of optics.
I have heard that the mk 6 3-18 has an illuminated option coming out as well, anyone else heard that?

Yes same. I'm waiting for that before I take the jump.

Do note, the weight on these is including the T1 & mount, 3-18 & mount. All things considered, it's an extremely nice & well thought out pkg.

What the pictures don't show, is what a remarkably small form factor this is, near compact. Noticeably smaller than competing offerings

There is no comparison of the mini reflex sights.. rmr, dr. optics, etc.. against the utility & durability of a T1.

The illumination feature not so important to me, for the few min of transitional time come sun up. Either a clip on NOD more appropriate or laser or T1 99% of the time.

A horus reticle.. so dialing not likely.

I see no need for BUIS when a T1 is used as a BURDS (yeah, just made that up). In fact, that would be the 4th sight for many professional users vari-optic, T1, laser...

Regarding placement of mini red dot. A dynamic shooter, or gamer, may prefer a 45degree angle. A position shooter will often find the 12 o clock red dot easier to access in the prone. The pro's and cons clearer when compared side by side & forced into odd positions and pressing times, that in 2D.
